If the wickets are gonna be flat then two fast bowlers, two spinners and some part timers like vihari will be needed. Why is kuldeep yadav not in the squad? I didn’t hear anything about an injury. A leg spinner would add variety. I would’ve had him in place of umesh Frustrated 1
SUMO Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 This is closest to the best possible squad based on meritocracy. If I have to mention one thing then I will pick rahul over saha. There is slot for 2 spinners and ash jaddu are best. Kuldeep has to improve his speed and zip of the pitch and his fitness too. Hope nobody gets injured and Ishant recovers. We are in for a cracker of test matches

Remember Hanuma Vihari scored a 51 and 100* in the A game as well and was brilliant in the chances he got in West Indies. He also gives India additional bowling option. It will be unfair to drop him and play Gill ahead of him if India did decide to play 6 batters. I think the Indian fans are extremely thrilled about addition of Gill in the Test squad but that does not mean we start dropping deserving candidates from the X1 to accommodate him. Also having just one spinner in the X1 with three fast men will be a disaster if the pitch turns out to be flat, there needs to be at least a part-timer like Vihari in the X1 to give rest to the main bowlers.
