Hadlee is 12th? I would say 13 maybe

In skill he surpassed everyone with only Lillee and Marshall in his league who were more agressive and accurate. No bowler was more diverse or creative or as unreadable.Better performer on flat batting than Hadleee and Ambrose. In peak era from 1990-98 Wasim performed better than Donald,Waqar or Ambrose .

Remember that Ambrose and Hadlee were not as outstanding in unhelpful condition on flat tracks where Wasim was the ultimate champion.Even if not the quickest or most accurate he was more lethal than anyone and in his peak era overshadowed Ambrose,Donald and Waqar.Ambrose was a champion as a match winner on broken wickets while Hadlee was the master on a green top.Lillee was more complete than either of them like Wasim.Hadlee often became defensive when the going was against him while Ambrose could become predictable.I agree in helpful condition sthey wee right at the top but morally Lillee,Wasim or even Andy Roberts were more complete.THe most intelligent of all was Glen Mcgrath who surpassed everyone in terms of craft for fast-medium pace ,who could win more games in unhelpful conditions than Hadleee or Ambrose. Also remember Wasim overshadowed Waqar against strong teams.,

Hadlee actually won a test for NZ in India .... below is 1988 series

We know  about Ambrose's performances vs teams such as Aus and SA, which were among the strongest in 90s:

He would be 12th

Was Wasim not more complete than any pacemen more lethal and best bowler in peak from 1990-98?He was better than Ambrose ,Donald  or Hadlee in unhelpful conditions.Significant that in peak era he performed better than Ambrose,Waqar or Donald.Ambrose was thew best ever in helpful conditions arguably and certainly on a broken wicket but was not so outstanding on flat wickets.Hadlee too became defensive when the going was not good.Even ststaitsically Wasim is amongts the top 3-4 overall and in test cricket amongst the top 8 in the total package of average, strike rate and haul.Wasim has a better record against strong teams than Waqar .

Not true. Here is an excerpt  from Harsh Thakor's diary

The young hot stud Wasim with those long flowing locks stood mesmerized in the nets one day under the heavenly Karachi sun when he saw this majestic creature who had descended from the abode of gods. The young stud basked in the radiance of the man and suddenly he felt a tingling sensation in his tool. When he opened his metaphoric toolbox, he realized that all of a sudden he was blessed with multiple tools. Majestic Majid inspected all the tools of the young stud and tampered with one of them and that lo and behold became the art of reverse swing.

All hail Majid!!!

Metaphoric toolbox  :hysterical:

A fair or good list and conclusion.Do remember how oustanding Wasim was on flat decks on the sub-continent and how in peak era he overshadowed Ambrose ,Waqar and Donald.Imran was better in peak era and in terms of best figures but overall not as consistent in all phases of career.Wasim had more longevity starting his carer at the age of 19 and being outstanding from the start .On flat tracks or on cricket wickets Wasim was better than Ambose, although the latter was more of a match-winner.Wasim was more capable of a cruicial breakthrough when great batsmen were well set,Ambrose was not at his best in the sub-continent .

In test and ODI in 1st 2 and in 1st 5 in only tests. Why do you rtae Donald ahead in tests and Steyn and Wasim not in top 3 overall?

Donald is a match winner in test . His avg , sr everything better than akram. His record was excellent in india. @zen already uploaded a list , where doland has better record vs big team.if you count overall fast bowler (test +odi) akram ranked 2nd behind only McGrath. There are only few fast bowler who are equally great in both format McGrath, wasim, donald & waqar.ambrose, imran, steyn & marshall all four is atg in test but avg odi bowler

Well, a specialist bowler is expected to do better than world class ATG and I feel Akram was slightly better bowler than Kapil.  Both toiled on wickets which were not friendly for pacers. If Kapil was an Aussie replacing anyone of Lillee and Thomson combo or Pakistani replacing any of Akram - Waqar or West Indian replacing one of Walsh - Ambrose, or Pollock - Donald or WI pairs in 70's in tandem, he would have been more dangerous with a world-class Pacer at other end.

Kapil had to bowl lot with Maninder Singh, Prabhakar, Chetan Sharma, Madam Lal and Roger Binny. So we have to acknowledge the major difference in overall bowling strength of both teams during the career of Kapil and Akram.

Akram tampered the ball which aided his bowling. The whole Porrki team was behind it. Kapil did not. End of story. Phucker should be banned from India and Indian shows.

  • Good to see Bumrah produce performance like Hadlee so far

Eventually, we may need a thread such as "Is Bumrah the best pace bowler from the subcon?" :dontknow:

Akram would walk into any all time XI , he is the most complete fast bowler who has played this game. There was nothing he could not do, he could swing new ball both ways, bowl very fast , reverse swing both ways,

He was the great in odis too.I don't think any other bowler had skills like him.

As others have said, in test matches there were better bowlers. But for me he is up there at the top as an ODI bowler. As a left armer who could move the ball both ways, deadly with the new ball and clinical with the old, good pace, variations, you name it...he had it all. The skills you look for in bowlers in LOIs in right now, he was the master of them 20 years back. Plus the added benefit of being a left armer, he is the most complete ODI fast bowler surely.

Using your logic  grant elliot  is better than rohit sharma

When did Grant Elliot win a test match.....BTW if I use your logic Munaf Patel is better bowler than younis and akhtar. However as we are talking about test Sir Aggy Trump all Pakistani bowlers except kaali daal. Whine bumrah is the goat coz he has 5 fer in all Sena countries which none of Pakistani bowler have...:phehe:

Even in ODIs, he is behind McGrath, Lee, Bond, Starc.

Top 3 in ODIs, barely top 10 in tests and I am being very generous. Feasted a lot on weaker teams and lower order batsmen esp in red ball cricket. Genius bowler and great willpower considering his diabetes problem. But when it comes to rating Baki bowlers particularly the 80s and 90s ones, can't ignore the role of

Wasim, Waqar, Imran all have * next to their records.

I can accept McGrath maybe, the rest you are really overrating. While they may have better stats but Wasim could make the best batsmen of his generation look like utter fools, while Lee, Starc have been schooled by the likes of Uthappa and Iyer. Shane Bond though was very dangerous, he had a really short career. Obviously his stats would look convoluted compared to someone with over 4 times his matches.

Grand son use upper area of your body i was talking about test and then you squeeze in this Grant elliot comparison. Just to educate you again as the toopic is on bowler. Bumrah is the goat bowler from subcontinent as he has 5fer in all the sena country which none of Pakistani bowler have as of now and can dream of.

In today's cricket, any batsman can school any bowl. That's how good the batsmanship is these days. Wasim would not have been any different today with no reverse swing, flat pitches, big bats, monster hitters etc. Any bowler averaging 20-21 in today's LOI cricket is a legit GOAT.
