Nice wake up call for those who were saying India are going to dominate like Aus/WI lol

Thats was our loudmouth coach with silent support of the captain who behaves as if he has won everything and is the best captain on planet

There is a reason why many of the fans I know have kept their expectations low for upcoming ICC tournaments. Either they want India to go all the way or want to crash out in the beginning itself to avoid heartbreak.

Test series is way more important but now seeing Bumrah and Agarwal's form we might struggle there too. Ominous signs really when your chief opener and pacer seem out of sorts.

The lad Jamieson should go straight into the first test line up for NZ i think. He has got the number on both our openers.

Losing the series is not the issue, its the lack of plans & fight when the going got tough that is worrying. In T20s the Kiwis committed harakiri more than us doing anything special. Kohli has 100% intensity on the field, but I don't think the team is doing enough homework on the opposition. Playing Jadhav and then not bowling him even once - inexplicable decisions like these show a lack of thinking culture & professionalism. Benching Pant for all LOIs and not releasing him for A-team games is another example of muddled thinking. Samson was there as a back-up keeper for T20s and he cld have been easily retained for ODIs too.

Kohli says this a lot  - "We want guys to figure out situations themselves." This is such a childish statement and shows how Kohli infantilizes his own players. Of course, cricketers have to think for themselves in the middle. But as a leader, what are your plans/mock drills behind the scenes? How are you preparing for series mentally? Has our coaching staff done their homework for the upcoming test series?

The loss was surprising as nz did not have kane and boult. We had comfortably won last time against a stronger team in nz .I think kuldeep having second season blues and absence of Rohit obviously hampered us.But form of rahul and iyer is encouraging.

Even Aus lost to NZ 3-0 just before 2007 WC.

Kyon???

There are lot of positives to be gained from this series.Once Rohit comes back India have top 4 nailed in t20s and Top 5 in odis after a long time.

Kohli did not score many runs yet they reached 300 couple of times.

Shardul's bowling figures look pathetic. If someone is so bad, why would you play him?

Looks like serial match looser.

"experience".  "seniority".  Because he bailed out his captain by smacking 20 runs against a substandard Windies team.  The argument is that such players show "good temperament" and have earned the right for an extended audition.

I don't understand how some people are thinking that this loss is going to be a reality check on the TM. !!

The only " realities " they may see are ...Dhawan needs to play till 2023 WC ... the young openers are useless ... we have a weak No.6 and Dhoni needs to come back ... a young team is useless in general, so let's go back to oldies only.

Our middle order looks pretty good now (except for #6) and that's the biggest positive from this series. Posting 340 in the first ODI without a century from Kohli, and today's total with minimal contribution is something to feel good about. Our bowling has gone AWOL in this series but it could also be fatigue from playing so much. Bumrah is the biggest worry, and Saini has also dipped in pace and hostility. TM have plenty to ponder about regarding the bowling combination for the tests.

Basically this...all this series loss did was reinforce the importance of the missing oldies for Kohli and TM, and shut the LOI door on Mayank, Saini, Shaw to an extent. It's a convenient excuse for everyone to maintain the close circle and prevent further experimentation in selection.

This pathetic TM is acting worse than management bullies in the corporate jungle. They have their own agenda and everyone not in their good books is a mere pawn to be tossed around. Only an end to Kohli's career will bring in a change but by then, he would have done permanent damage to Indian cricket.
