Sack the fielding coach

Horrible catching, horrible ground fielding. Even our 90s idiots weren't this bad, at least better in the slip cordon. Just look at that overthrow 4, through the legs of Samson, shambolic.

Sridhar has been in this role for almost 6 years now, no progress. Annual package Rs 3.5 crore, all down the drain. This nepotism bug is infuriating, we have rejected so many fielding coach candidates to accommodate Bewda's bar buddy.

Wow! He gets paid 3.5 cr. That's more than what head coaches of many international and IPL teams make. Basically he is there just to do Kohli-Shastri's bidding.

Imagine we did not pick Jonty for this guy. If we needed an Indian coach, Kaif would have been a far better choice. But then he may not have been a yes man.

Today's catching/fielding though :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

This is the worst Indian fielding side I have ever seen, competing for the 'worst ever in the world' title. Pathetic catching, non-regular keeper, lazy groundfielding, inability to hit the stumps.

Sridhar will collect his 3.5 crore package and laugh at us, claim that we are the best fielding unit. Freeloading clown.

Will firing someone improve our fielding?

Its not like Dhawan or Chahal were great fielders for their IPL sides or before this coach came along for team India.

I posted this in the match thread:

Was it their technique which was lacking, when those catches were dropped?

How much can the coach be blamed when there is no intent on the part of the player?

Perhaps try a carrot and stick approach here:

For every regulation catch dropped deduct a certain amount from the variable pay package. It may not mean much to most of them, but it could burn a small hole in their pockets.

Of course for the likes of Kohli and Rohit Sharma it would be chump change.

Also give them a certain amount for every difficult catch they take.[/Quote]

You're not aiming at the main guy behind all of this

Yes field coach should be sacked we were constantly over running the trajectory of the ball & the placement of fielders were completely wrong. But the way some of the dollies were dropped, it was totally unacceptable for any fielder to drop them even in gully cricket, let alone for player (Virat) at this level.

Am wondering, do you need a fielding coach at this level? I mean does he has to teach players how to take catches at this level?

Well you can say the same about most aspects of international cricket.

No one is learning to bat/bowl at international level. Lot of it is about practice & fixing techniques. Having the right man at the right place. India don’t seem to be doing it properly.
