Gollum Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 (edited) In Feb our biggest test in a long time in this format. 5 T20Is against the fearsome English side. We announced 17 member squad for this series, so let us stick to 17 members for Eng series as well. Also mark your preferred captain. Rohit (c) KL Rahul Mayank Kohli SKY Hardik Kishan Samson Iyer Krunal Jadeja Rahul Chahar Sundar Bumrah Natarajan Deepak Chahar Saini Tempted to include Ashwin cos Poms have so many LHBs: Malan, Stokes, Morgan, Moeen, Curran. Maybe later, since others need the experience. Post IPL 2021 I can think of adding options like Shaw, Tewatia, Gopal.... Varun C even if completely fit, I don't want him to be exposed before the Poms, last thing we want is to have them decode his mystery by the time T20 WC arrives. He is our surprise weapon. Serpico Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Tewatia in place of krunal. We already tried krunal in many matches and found out that he is bang average. Lets atleast try different options before settling on him Can hit pacers better than krunal.. would've practiced with archer, Stokes, Curran and butller in nets.. Norman and Adamant 2
Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 (edited) Openers Rohit (capt) Rahul Samson Middle Kohli Pant Pandya Sky Kishen All rounders Jadeja ( i still dont like him in t20s specially his bowling ) Tewatia Spinners Rahul chahar Varun.C Ravi ashwin Fast bowlers Deepak Chahar Nattu Bumrah Saini thakur (use him smartly) These are the player we shud look at, give them fair run and if one doesnt work then try next but after a fair chance but the 1st step is try right kind of players Also i hope we rest Bumrah n Kohli from some bilateral t20s Edited December 8, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03 Mosher 1
prudent_kreeda Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 (edited) For me need of the hour is new set of Spinners who are quicker with zip of the track . So as a bold move will go for rahul chahar & Bishnoi. If they can be able to perform decently against ENG atleast in half the matches they play , they can have better success against other teams . May be play Varun in last 2 matches . Do not expose him till WC 21. Edited December 8, 2020 by prudent_kreeda Mosher and Norman 2
zen Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 I am on the boat where folks think of moving away from Kohli, Rohit & Dhawan (even if there is a WC) in T20s KL Samson SKY Kishan SDP (c) Jadeja (in form player) Tewatia Sundar (more of a #8 w/ his batting) 3rd pacer (good if he can bat well too) - Bhuvi Natarajan Bumrah (vc) 12 Chahal / R Chahar 13 Saini / Thakur / Chahar / Krishna / .... 14 Agarwal 15 Pant 16 Krunal 17 Varun C nevada, Adamant, Norman and 1 other 3 1
express bowling Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 (edited) 1. Rahul 2. Mayank 3. Kohli 4. SKY 5. Jadeja 6. Hardik 7. Tewatia 8. Rahul Chahar 9. Shami 10. Natarajan 11. Bumrah 12. Kishan 13. Pant 14. Chahal 15. Varun C 16. Shardul --- This team has 6 bowling options ... 3 pace bowlers ... 3 spinners ... 2 wrist spinners ... Big hitters from 4 to 7 ... 1 high average anchor batsman at 3 ... 2 high SR openers, one of whom, Rahul, can play anchor's role if needed. --- Don't want too many accumulator, so no Rohit --- It's high time we let go of Dhawan in T20Is. --- Want 6 bowling options and 2 wrist spinners .. so Jadeja at 5 and Tewatia at 7. --- Have kept Shami for his ability to pick wickets upfront and bowl yorkers at the death. --- I don't want s specialist finger spinner and Sundar can't hit big shots at 7 ... so, no Sundar. But that's the thing since 2007 India never fielded a ideal T20 line up. Rohit Shikhar Virat are all mediocre T20 players & I prefer Rat coz of his T20 WC exploits. zen 1

Honestly, I would rest both Rohit and Kohli. But the broadcasters won't allow it. Regarding the squad, will have a leggie instead of Krunal.
coffee_rules Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Morgan comes down the order and solidifies #4 or #5. Since we have Pandya and jadeja at #6/#7. would propose Rohit Mayank/Samson KL SKY Kohli Pandya Jadeja Washington/Tewatiya Shami/D Chahar Natarajan Bumrah Give top4 to get to 100 runs in 10 overs. We can then have Kohli/Pandya/Jadeja/Washington/Tewatiya to finish,
Majestic Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 I will go with OP here but also consider Tewatia. Pant has to deliver in test series to be considered again. Just because he has more fans in ICF, he shouldn't be given more chances on that basis only . He looked all in sea in IPL this year with a pathetic S/R of 113.

Promising 11 but Rohit has to be there. Also I think its worth going with Sundar than with Shami since Bhumrah and Natarajan can handle death bowling better and Sundar can bowl well in the most difficult PP overs
Majestic Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 My XI for first T20 assuming all are injury free would be:- Rohit Rahul(wkt) Kohli(c) Samson SKY Pandya Jadeja Thakur Chahar Natarajan Chahal Bumrah and Shami will most likely be rested after 4 tests.
bowl_out Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Rohit will come in for Samson and Rahul will move back to the middle order.. Expect no other changes from this TM
Unleashed Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 (edited) You guys keep one expecting bold changes and it never happens from this timid coach/captain/selection trio. Expecting an eleven of Dhawan, Rahul, Rohit, Kohli, Samson/Pant/Sky, Pandya, Jadeja, Sundar/Chahal, Thakur, Bumrah, Nattu Tbf, apart from Dhawan the team looks quite good. Edited December 9, 2020 by Unleashed nevada and Gollum 2
Gollum Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 Bumrah-Nattu bowling together in the death will be fun to watch. Nattu can solve so many problems in our T20 team, desperately needed a quality left-arm quick for variety. Master handing over cap to his Padawan
Stan AF Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Is the next T20 WC in india or in australia??. I was under the impression that it will be held in australia. But looks like it is right here??... And there's another t20 wc at 2022 also??

Forget drastic changes because it's never gonna happen. Forget sending someone as pinch hitter at 3 because that's not gonna happen either. The only possible realistic change is for our top 3 to avoid tuk-tuk in power play and even that is not happening!
Stan AF Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 By the looks of it if a full strength english team comes here it'll be increasingly difficult for india to maintain it's winning T20I series record. I'd pick english team to win 3-2.
