urbestfriend Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 OK, now that our premier bowler is also out of the series and best batsman not available, it is almost inevitable that India is whitewashed 4-0. We had lost 4-0 in the past also , but it never happened that fans were so sure of whitewash just after 1 match. So it is going to be painful time to watch the series when it is guaranteed that no match will go to 5th day. This thread is to discuss what should be our strategy in order to compete against aussies. Given a chance, I'd have played SDP for Vihari at 6, and give him full freedom to go after the aussies. Question is how do we score runs against this bowing attack so that we can be competitive? We need to score 350-400 runs if there is an iota of chance to win. How do we do that? Should we go after the aussies from the beginning like Sehwag used to do? Should we play a safer game against the pacers and tier the bowlers before scoring runs with brisk pace? Should we change the batting order and expect something to happen? I think best way is bat watchfully for first 15-20 overs so that the ball becomes little older and then take your chances to score freely even if we are losing the wickets. If we start scoring with a brisk pace like Paide did in first match, it may lead to bowler erring the line which can gets us more scoring opportunity. I don't think it is a good idea to plan for 350 in 120 overs, 350 must come in 80 overs i.e within one day. Bowlers firing to defend this and getting them out seems to be reasonable option for us.

Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 it cant be avoided it will happen, only chance is if Pujara n rahane steup SrinjayDutta 1
zen Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Everyone would need to set up .... even if Pujara gets a 100, Ind could be bowled out for 250 .... MCG & SCG can be relatively batting friendly but Ind can even make those appear as batsmen’ graveyard Also due to quarantine laws difficult for replacements to come in and be match ready urbestfriend 1

Anyway right now we can use 3-4 Pujara’s in the side.

Lone Wolf Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Lol at Pujara stepping up.. Aussies have plans against him & he is going through a slump since that 2018-19 tour. Another free loader... Loading

RedFever Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Lol at some of pujara's fan boys in this forum. His 100 ball 20 are not helping the team. No 3 is the root cause of all India's problems
DeepSpace Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 With Kohli gone and Shami out, expect a whitewash. Indians are generally not great in the mental grit department. Couple that with lack of technique and presence of a coach who is more interested in alcohol than cricket, the rest of the tour looks grim. Best would be if there is outbreak of COVID in the team and tour is cancelled.

WC2011INDIA Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Cancel the series like SA vs Eng one. Someone in BCCI/team India will have to somehow doctor a fake covid19 case. Everyone relaxes in Australia for 14 days or so and then return home. Sgattick10 1
ThirtyD. Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Aussies will grind the living **** out of us at pattas like MCG and SCG. Another scary fact is that Steve Smith did not have to inflict world of hurt in the first test and we still managed to lose it. Imagine when he gets his chance to bat on these pattas. Covid or not, there was no plan in place for this series and it clearly shows. You cannot pick your squad which exposes your debutants when your premier bowler gets injured.
The Realist Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 SOS to MSD & RP Singh to replace Kohli & Shami

When your two most senior players dont play the pink ball warm ups... and the captaan prioritising the dead rubber t20 match over warm up, then you know this team is just here for a free holiday.
