IPL destroyed our chances

More than IPL, its the useless ODIs and T20s they play throughout the year, which will cause more damage. Bumrah, Shami dont need to play all the bilateral LOI games, they are too valuable, just let them play important test matches and World Cup. BCCI needs to wake up and monitor their work load. Also, 4 or 5 tests in a tour is overkill. 3 are enough.

We played 3 ODIs and 3 T20s in bilaterals  this year. Where as some players like Bumrah, Shami played around 16 games over a period of 2 months , 3 months if you include quarantine. BCCI could have cancelled one year of IPL. Ab Bhugto, Saalon.

BCCI Wheelers and Dealers don’t care. Test cricket is in their lowest priority list. Test Cricket doesn’t bring moneys and is expensive...

Theyll continue to focus on things which generate moneys and help sustain the cost of managing cricket...

many of you who have short attention spans might not agree but having the IPL before a major tour killed our team.2 months playing in incredible sauna like conditions are directly responsible for the complete destruction of our team.In the greed and money won out over overseas success.

Without IPL, we may never have had Bumrah play test cricket.  He could have been toiling away in Ranji, his best years wasted instead of being polished alongside Malinga.

It works both ways.

Because of the IPL, Ranji first class players  get fat salaries now, even those that don't get selected in IPL.

Stop hating on it just because you want bragging rights for winning tests.  Not saying that the IPL is beyond criticism - plenty can be hurled at it.

But blaming IPL for "destroying our chances" is a childish take. And an incorrect one.

Oh big bad IPL destroying Indian cricket. GTFOH. Its just 4 overs per game and 2 matches per week. As a matter of fact, this helped the bowlers some game time before the series. Its not overworking the bowlers that made bowlers like Umesh fall apart but the lack of mathces as pointed out by glenn mcgrath in the post match show. I'm more likely to trust an expert like mcgrath who played the game than some numpties playing armchair experts on the game. last few seasons were more hectic than this year and the bowlers survived the grind because their bodies were used to it by playing.

Don't attribute everything to IPL. Ranji salaries were fat , back in 2000s itself. India had rich TV contracts and BCCI was able to pay fat salaries and bonuses to ex-cricketers as well.

He is talking of injuries, we can barely make 11 for Brisbane

adhi injuries to on field hui hai IPL ko kya blame

Bhuvi injury has been on n off for quite few yrs now . Injuries are part of game and bad luck all happened together . More then IPL its the long break that is another reason , we have been playing IPL for 12-13 yrs now so these bodies can handle it. On field injuries can happen anytime even in nets like its happening in Aus , we cant just cottan wrap these guys

Count they time they field for about 1.5-2 hours. Plus the nets, practice matches etc. It is not a walk in the park.

They can cut down their work, esp when they are battling injuries.

IPL is the reason Ranji, test cricket survives. Stop blaming the IPL. It pays everything. Yes it does exhaust resources may be in the long term we will have good bench of bowlers and bastman. I understand IPL the reason for Bumrah injury but apart from that shami, jadeja, pant, vihari and ashwin are not IPL related injuries.  Its just 2020 injury the lockdowns and gym access and lack of cricket is the reason.
