The forces who have tried to keep a superlative talent like Rishabh Pant on the bench ... and tried to undermine his confidence by issuing public statements against him, need to answer.

Either they have no idea about who a talented cricketer is ... or they have ulterior motives.

Anyone can see for quite some time that Pant deserves to play as a specialist batsman even. He is a true match-winner

Maybe those forces were using reverse-psychology to bring out the best in Pant :-)

Even this performance today couldn’t have happened without Mahi Bhai’s inspiration, guidance and most importantly kind blessings. Apparently whilst waiting to bat today Pant watched re-runs of CSK vs Deccan Chargers when tak Dhoni tak Dhoni damaag se Dhoni was on fire. He used this performance as a blueprint of how not to bat and hence Dhoni’s role in this epic success.

I love Saha's keeping, just love it.   That elegance, that grace and sense of timing, that ease with which he collects, and takes impossible catches, makes amazing collections and stumpings.   I was a staunch Saha advocate up till Test #1 in 'Straya, and will always remain his admiring fan.

But I cannot deny that Pant has grabbed this role.  And made it his.

Saha has to be the unluckiest top wicketkeeper . By the time Dhoni finally was done, Pant was ripe to takeover. Just unlucky to be in the wrong time .

While true, he has been playing decent number of games and also earns a lot from IPL. So not doing too bad

This guy is a match winner. played a well constructed innings today despite temptations to tonk Lyon. Took his time (he did in his sydney innings as well) and then unleashed his shots. @Rasgulla you trollvoted me once for praising Pant. Don't ever do that again :police: We are brothers along with @zen when we post the truth about the mighty mumbai midget. Pant is a match winner. cannot say the same about the said midget. aila would have got bowled on the last delivery and India would have choked letting Aussies win. How will @New guy react. Will he upvote me for praising Pant or trollvote me for telling the truth about aila. @velu@Gollum Please share your inputs

Changed the momentum in the MCG test

helped india draw at sydney

and helped us win here at the gabba on a 5th day pitch where Australia hasn’t lost since 1988

do I need to say anything more?

he is like a cat amongst pigeons (aussies). Aussies fear him the most. You can see Lyon started bowling wide rather than at the stumps in an attempt to get him caught on the off side. Also setting deep fielders even at the start of the innings. Compare that with Pujara who has fielders surrounding him like flies. Can change the game in a session. He needs to play more like today playing percentage cricket, get a look in before launching an attack and not start swinging just because the spinner is on. Also the cover drives and square drives where majestic not to mention he is a good puller and cutter. If his WK is not upto scratch, he can play as a pure batsmen. Although I think his WK is getting better as it progresses
