Any good team will fancy its chances against us when we are being led by an incompetent captain.

As expected, all the compliments our caches were handing to themselves and to Kohli after Aus series win was hollow PR. It was largely down to inspired and secure captaincy  of Rahane, leading to a collective leadership and united team efforts. Kohli came in and immediately discarded the collective leadership due to his insecurities. End result was clear from day 1

Inspired and secure captaincy still cant negate the rubbish shot making and 5th day nature of this pitch..

England were excellent, deserved the win.

The worrying thing is barring an improved batting display, hard to see how India improve enough to win the series.

Jadeja being out is huge, there does not appear to be anyone half as good as him to replace his bowling (not even taking into account his fielding or batting).

India's best 4 available bowlers at the moment are probably 3 pacers and 1 spinner but cant see the TM playing 3 quicks.

England performed as a team and India performed like a bunch of individuals like Vaughan mentioned. England didnt drop many catches, bowled less no balls and athletic in fielding and running between the wickets while we did everything to help them. Also I would have went with Siraj and Kuldeep vs Ishant and Nadeem. I don't put too much attention to losing the toss as day 3 was still good for batting. If we had put 500 on board, the game would be a draw

400 would be a draw.. as it would have taken out time for both sides. We actually lost by a freaking 1.5 session. We batted for only 60 overs in 2nd innings

A competent captain who can get the best out of his players but is an average batsman is anyday better than a great batsman who is a terrible leader.

Our bowlers have been bailing us out more often than not in the last 3 years.

Our batting has been hit or miss for quite some time.

In this test ... our bowlers did not bail us out in the first innings. Absence of Jadeja and Shami / Umesh played a big part as they are master bowlers on slow pitches. This was a big factor in our loss.

Need to definitely bring in Kuldeep in place of Nadeem and maybe Siraj too in place of Ishant.

Just one hundred from Kohli and Pujara in last 38 innings combined against Top 7 opponents since the 2018-19 Australia tour. That's your problem there.

Toss was very important but they still had to do the business so fair play. Still think if we keep it to a 2-1 defeat we’ll have done well, although I was predicting 4-0 so already done far better than expected

Root was sweeping and reverse seeeping our bowlers to all parts of the ground and its astonishing that kaptaan fool didn’t have any plan and let him score 200 freaking runs. He will do the same in every match. He has started scoring freely. Sr of 60 in the 200. He has touched monster form.

We've been talking all about India's poor performance but have to say that England came up with the goods. hats of to them. From their perspective, they beat a side (that beat Aus in Aus) at their own home in a ground that favors the home team :hatsoff:

Both their spinners bowled brilliantly when they were not attacked. Not sure you can defend them for long.
