Siraj will mostly missout if Umesh joins the squad. But I think india might go with 2 seamers.

As good as Umesh has been at home, how can an injured fast bowler walk straight into the test squad? Was it not better for Umesh to play in VH Trophy first? As he would have been in a bubble, transferring him to the India team bio-bubble would have been straight forward.

for the pink ball test IMO Pandya is a must.

 

But as an allrounder. For the other test I think a third spinner like Sunder makes more sense.

normally i would pick mayank in asia regardless. but for pink ball i am not sure. 

 

anyway this is my team if gill is injured. i am assuming shami is not fit enough yet.

He has been training at NCA since his injury.

I hate that this is happening to Thakur.  He was instrumental in the historic victory and adds an element of never-say-die attitude to this team.  While I shouldn't get emotional about this. I do feel that his ability to move the ball in the air and just be an overall hardworking cricketer would be invaluable.  I hope he is back with a vengeance.  I am getting this nagging feeling of both Sundar and Thakur falling by the wayside so established players can keep playing.  That would be a travesty.

I knew I would feel bad if it happened.  I am huge fan of him since his finishing knocks in Dec 2019 (Ind WI ODI) and Jan 2020 (Ind SL T20).  Fearless cricketer.
