No point blaming the batsman, its just a terrible terrible terrible pitch

Any ball can have ur name so when luck factor is so high whats to blame batsman for .  This reminds me of that Mumbai 2004 Aus test which made Clarke looks cross breeding kid of murali n warne.

Now root is looking Ajanta mendis when no one saw him

Whats the point of a pitch which wont even last 5 days ..................sorry this is just not good cricket. Its a Lottery . We dug such holes for ourself in past and if we loose this time well we deserve it. Taking home condition is one thing but we have made a toss based pitch.

I thought we were done with such pitches after Ind-SA series which is when we saw the real skill of Umesh n Shami. They are injured but this wud have given us a picture how good is Siraj n Axar but we went negative. Good teams dont need to resort to such extreme.

But oh you can't say the pitch is terrible because the usual crowd will say "it must mean you have an inferiority complex of SENA" and "why is helping spin bad but pace good" and other such nonsense. Reality of the matter is tht this pitch is incapable of having a game lasting 4 days let alone 5. Its simply got good enough.

It's a pitch similar to the last game, sone basic issues which should've been solved by now -

  • Why play Sundar & potentially weaken your spin department if he isn't going to bowl? Surely KL or even Pandya would slot in ahead of Sundar if he's picked as the better/specialist bat.
  • Why not send Pant or nightwatchman last night? Redundant question, I know Kohli just thinks one way.
  • Did we really need 2 pacers here? Assuming both Root & even Kohli didn't read the pitch right did we really need two seamers if they weren't going to bowl 20 overs between them?
  • Why no Umesh over Sharma or Bumrah - heel's been out best pacer at home against Eng 2016, Oz 2017 & arguably SA 2019. Even if you don't really believe in him much, why is he in the squad then?

I still think the biggest issue with this team is captaincy/tactics no matter what Kohli :lollypop: claim!

This series is a borefeast thanks to the awful pitches. We just beat Australia in Australia and have got the team capable to beat any side in any conditions. Why cant we lay sporting pitch which we will assist seamers on day 1, great for batting for next two days and will turn on 4 and 5 day? Its fun to watch test cricket on pitches like those. These dutsbowl rank turners are poor to watch and borderline cheating in my view.

We had a proper flat pitch (600 an innings type) in Chennai first test. What did our top 5 do ? We were 70/4 on that.

So yes our batting sucks, no 2 ways about it.

Last pitch wasnt flat. Chennai pitch last time when nair scored 300 was flat

Im not even watching this series properly coz i dnt feel like . Specially after that high of that Indian Aus series this is ****.....awful pitch

U can make great stadiums but at the end u play cricket on pitch , not blaming groundsman but this is on TM for asking such a dry pitch. In this heat a dry pitch was going to get even worse

They took it too far this time, this is worse than Chennai 2nd test. Look at the turn Leach was getting bowling round the wicket, pitching within stumps and ending up way outside off.

Batting is a problem as well. I don't trust these guys to score against Anderson & co under lights on a sporting wicket.

There is a definite problem with this batting lineup. You cannot camouflage that under the garb of pitch or whatever.

thats ok n proven that these guys fall short some where but these pitches take skill out of picture and makes it all about luck.

VVS Laxman just remarked he played on that Mumbai Turner & this pitch is far better than that. He also highlighted the lack of technique as well as application in the Indian batsmen. If there was any skillful batsman he would have survived the spells.

Same man...I have stayed up all night to watch the entire Ind-Aust series. Just checking the scores here and bit n pieces of this tour as it a boring series. When Eng toured India in 2016, the series was successful thanks to brilliant sporting wickets. But this time they over did the rank turner thing and its awful to watch.

Look n pujara, ashwin, pant are skillfull guys against spin . Pujara is one of the best against spin

Even those guys ended up making clarke have 6/9 figures .  I remember sachin n laxman started stepping out in that game but which is the only ploy but modern cricketers arent use to stepping down as much due to spinners bowling at good pace these days

Rahane n Kohli has issues but this pitch is making everyone look same

We just missed basic street smartness.  Root has incredible control & worse guys like Elgar have picked 5 for against India.

We managed to feed him our three lefties easily..  Pathetic planning from Kohli & TM & Ashwin on the ground..  All he needed to do was rotate strike & get to face Root somehow.

Also stepping out/padding has been negated by DRS

if match cant last 4 days, what's the point of Test match watching on TV and for fans in stadium.

Might as well play 5 ODIs

But I dont think TM had much say in this pitch, this pitch was rubbish from before, it produced a stinker of SMAT final.

You gotta fire the pitch curator.

Indian batsmen are ordinary players of spin all of them bar Pujara. But even Pujara's game is in decline. They have even more limited gane against swing.

All of them prefer pace & bounce, hence sucess in Australia. Secondly, you give lineup even a flat track against ba capable lineup, theh will struggle to reach 400.

I think quality of pitches have just exacerbated the frailties, nothing else.
