Wait you pulled out all stats but now you're saying interpretation is not everybody's forte  Its plain and simple. You can't keep someone not in a purple patch for 2 years. He is no Smith, Root, Kohli, Williamson. FFS he is not even a Cook or Dravid type wearing opposition out. His last great series was in Aus 18-19

Again relying on logical fallacies (or stats not your forte). Below has been explained multiple times in one way or the other :dontknow:

a) his last “great” series was in 2018-19: as if people have such ATG series all the time and as if Pujara has to always come up with ATG level series, while ignoring his contributions in recent series in Aus where he had the most 50+ scores for Ind, while serving as a virtual opener in first two tests w/ Shaw and Mayank failing (this happened just a few weeks ago)

b) he is not even wearing opposition out: again the stats you posted has the information. A SR of 37 implies that he is wearing the opposition down (avg of 80+ balls per inning in the top order probably adds another 10 grace runs to his avg)

c) Unnecessarily tying Ashwin (or whoever) to Pujara: when Pujara has turned it around overseas with an ATG series in Aus (you also accepted that) with series in Eng (already discussed on this thread), the recent series in Aus (only a few weeks ago as discussed), while also doing relatively well in tough conditions in NZ (got out to mostly good balls)

So "true" cricket fans buy your BS? If so, I don't want to be with that crowd

Buddy, I have faith in you too!

In a way at their respective peaks, Pujara in tests is like Dhoni in ODIs. Both of them make use of their limitations to put on that extra mile for the team, becoming highly impactful  ... Other such cricketers include Steve Waugh

Don’t forget that both of them would be at CSK :p:

His resilience is appreciable but performance also needs to be taken into account, no? OP has been hyper critical of Ashwin's performance (count me as guilty as well. Only @Gollum has supported Ashwin totally) but doesn't apply the same rules to Pujara

Me and @Ankit_sharma03, Ankit bhai and I have same wavelength when it comes to backing as well as opposing many players....like Ashwin, KLR, (against) Dhawan in tests/T20s.....

Yeah Uthappa is with them too. fight for the wooden spoon continues. last time we didnt win it. this time we will.

With everything there is a time. Dhoni post 2016 was toast. He even told the media that he wasn't able to nudge the singles early on which was part and parcel of his ODI game hence the lunging habit started. In his prime, guy gets into a run a ball innings with his 1s and 2s and takes calculated risks against weaker bowlers.

Pujara's time is also ticking. His spin playing is pathetic at the moment. He makes Lyon and Leach look like Warne and Murali. He is maybe good for this Eng series but may not be for the next Aus series. If he does play in Australia next time around, he will be broken down like the big 3 were in 11-12.

If Pujara is not playing well (way past his best), he can be phased out ... I am not sure if we are at that stage yet esp. looking at options

For e.g. Shaw and Mayank had the opportunity to make it count in Aus but Pujara ended up becoming the virtual opener in the first two tests. As we know, the test for youngsters begins after their game is analyzed by the opposition. For guys like Pujara, who is the pillar, all types of analysis have been done. Teams know what his strengths are, what fields to set, where to bowl most of the time, and so on, so to be able to succeed despite that (at times when he is not at his best too) and when entering the last stage of his career is commendable

Unbelievable that way too many threads have been created in ICF to glorify the achievements of this free falling legend who has been on consistent decline since our 2018 tour of Aus.

I used to wonder if all these threads were being created by Pujara himself in disguise.

Not sure if there were these many threads even for our Fab 3 test batsmen (Sachin, Dravid and Laxman) who were 100 times better than puji.

Given a choice @zen will drop Jadeja because is a spinner also, but give all matches to Pujara.

There are, by same particular individual to glorify Pujara and finding fault on those 3 on different matrix customized and created as per suited agenda.
