He is a visionary captain who has cultivated the fast bowling culture but unfortunately he has not stepped up as batsman in important matches.

He is best Asian captain who has made his team compete in every match.

This team has bowlers to keep them in matches everywhere.

Only way I can understand its possible is, May be he was not taking any decisions or may be unlike Astri, he was listening to someone on field. Rahane or Pant.

Kohli form dip is recent which everyone will go through. Even in this he made runs in pink ball, few 50s here n there. 

 

Rahane inconsistency has gone beyond a point. 

 

Also kohli is a much high level of batsman then rahane is or will. I hve no doubts in my mind he ll find it back in future but with rahane he has hardly ever been consistent enough. Even if he scores questions remains about consistency. He shud go back to domestic n work on his game.

No he isnt but more then ton i look for consistency. Ton to melbourne men rahane ka bhi tha. 

 

But u gotta back a batsman of kohli calibre. He ll come good sometime. Actually he looked better this test in both innings so their is work going on. 

 

Anyways we cant replace all, our batting stocks arent great in red ball.

Picked Saha as his first choice keeper in Australia and not Pant

Didn't even bother to give Siraj a test debut

Never thought Shardul could be a test all rounder

Had slotted KL Rahul as a middle order batsman for tests

 

But yeah the greatest Asian test captain (as if that is any achievement).

 

He was spot on today so have to give him that. But when you've had your B team beat Aus in Aus, it should tell you more about what the team can actually do vs how massively they have underachieved during his 6-7 years rein. 

 

But then when you get paid to do PR, these are the threads you come up with, just because your paymaster won a couple of tests in England (where he has been a non-contributor).

If any random viewer goes through the scorecards in recent times ,they will see Kohli scoring 30s ,40s(that too not often)and then notices what Rahane,Pujara have scored near zilch

Psychologicaly it makes him believe Kohli isnt out of form or has been dreadful with the bat and to some ordinary bowlers,a very clever move to hit people psychologicaly,lets paint a good picture of Kohli out of the rut he's in

Except for his infantile celebrations, I don't see anything wrong with his on-field captaincy.
His shrewdness and cowardice in team selection, though, are cause for concern.

 

Rahane should be booted off the squad, but that is unlikely now after this win.
Bumrah and Siraj require relaxation, but this will not happen until they are hurt.
I believe Ashwin should be in, but I see Ishant playing next match.
