With Ravi Shastri's tenure coming to an end after the T20 World Cup next month, the BCCI is set to approach Anil Kumble for the role of Team India head coach again. Now VVS Laxman as well

why cudnt he agree

A captain has to run the team on field not coach, at the end its captains team

Rahane has his style , kohli n dhoni had their. Everyone has certain player whom they are confident about and some whom they arent

Rahane wanted Kuldeep, Kohli wanted Iyer who had joined the team a day before the test as his injury cover.

Kumble and Rahane vs Kohli. Kumble forced to resign on 3 months after the test, Rahane dropped from the Test 11 eight months later in SA.

ur making to much of conspiracy

Kohli was captain n had every right to play who he wants and rahane was dropped coz he was in awful form(not that i supported it) but their was a reason

Couldn’t the drama wait until after the end of the World Cup?

Selfish decision by Kohli.

He has always been about Kohli first, Friends next, then Team India.

If he really wanted to make a difference, handing the reigns over to Hitman now would have been the best decision for Indian Cricket heading into a World Cup.

Selectors could have done that if they wanted to. Instead they pick Kohli for the big tournament and then decide to play political games at the same time. If they decided to bet on Kohli, they should support him fully and then worry about making changes after the World Cup was done.

Then CoA Chief Vinod Rai had asked Sachin and Dada to speak to Kohli but he was unmoved. Left with no choice Kumble did the honorable think by resigning.

Don't think players were consulted.

Go back to 2017 Dharmshala test, Kohli didn't want Kuldeep to play, Kumble pressed for him, Rahane also supprted Kumble, Kuldeep played , we won the test and the series with Kohli sitting out. How could Kohli's big fat ego take that insult.

Kohli sat out that match due to injury(but still carried drinks onto the field). Instead of picking another batsman in his place, Rahane and Kumble picked a bowler, Kuldeep. Series on the line, pretty much everyone was shocked about this selection. It was a very risky but ballsy move. And it paid off. India won the match, with Rahane playing a nice cameo to finish off the chase. Kohli couldn't digest this. At all.

Kohli is not Kim Jong to do whatever he wants. If he had better sense, he wouldn't have made idiotic selections over the years and there wouldn't be a need to oppose his choices. Only a spineless yes man will put up with whatever he does. Under the current selector regime, his reign of idiocy is coming to an end. He badmouthed Abhimanyu Easwaran and wanted a replacement but the selectors would have none of it. They involved Rohit in the selection process for the T20WC and have appointed Dhoni as a mentor with selection powers to keep Kohli under check.

Wait for Kohli to go away. Every single detail, which you call conspiracy, will turn out to be true.

There has not been a bigger narcissistic individual at the top of Indian cricket than Kohli.

BCCI under Ganguly / Shah is acting bit like PCB these days. Recycling same coaches, hiring needless mentors & creating power groups etc.

As a fan I wasn't happy when Kumble left he was no where close to being done. Circumstances of his exit made it worst.

Note on personal front. I have professionally done well under a tough boss, they make you sweat but then fight for you to get what is rightfully yours.
