Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma should bowl: Kapil Dev wants India stalwarts to convert into all-rounders

Tough with present rules in white ball cricket (simply lack skills/talent/brains unlike say Root), possible in test cricket.

But but but......

Senior batsmen are upper castes in Indian cricket, bowlers are Dalits.

That is why batsmen:

  • have zero accountability
  • are extra 'important'
  • always in leadership positions
  • are undroppable, horses for courses NA
  • needn't develop secondary skills
  • pocket all MOM awards no matter how undeserving
  • have most endorsements
  • fault always with bowlers even if we register scores of 36 ao, 78 ao, 63/8 collapse
  • are allowed to skip net sessions, practice games
  • can be extra rude to journalists who ask valid questions
  • more interested in overseas vacation

Sorry Kapil, nothing doing, forget bowling, our maharathis won't bat, they will just be awarded A or A+ contract and enjoy....bowlers must bat, bowl, take catches, conjure up some run outs etc.

In LOIs, these guys can be targeted big time by the other team to create a psychological dent on the whole team. Remember even regulars like Ashwin and Jadeja had to go out post 2017 CT final. Kuldeep suffered a massive loss of confidence after being taken apart ... In the knockout matches if these guys bat well that is enough at the moment.

Rohit's hammy is as weak as a kitten, feeble and fragile and can snap any moment.

Kohli's back is kaput. Any pressure and it will be done.

The change needs to happen in FC cricket and across age group cricket. We have far too many one dimensional players coming through. Even fielding standards of younger players have gone down drastically.

covid man. not much games been played. its understandable.

Is it the age to start regular bowling again?

This is where Indian ex cricketers act as if they are blindfolded, they can't see and comprehend  how the game has changed, specially LOI cricket,Kapil is old i understand but even the ones who have just retired too talk nonsense day in and out

Rohit would have been as successful as Jadeja had he focused on his off spin bowling and dare I say a 19-20 yr old Ro was almost at a Washington Sundar level when he started with a much better action and more old guile, flight and drift.

Maniac you may not like Jaddu but don't demean him. May not be eye catching, but he gets the job done with the ball, with aplomb half the time. Look at his biggest strength-> accuracy+precision and subtle change in angles, arm ball, has his own boring methods but they work. I am not gonna say he is the spin equivalent of McGrath but there are similarities especially when it comes to approach. Attritional bowling of the highest quality.

What he does in SC in tandem with Ashwin, I'll tell you it isn't half as easy as it looks like. Imagine the countless hours he must have put in to get that kind of accuracy, put a 50 paisa coin somewhere in good length area of the pitch and I can assure you Jaddu will land the ball on it more often than any other bowler right now in international cricket.

I have thing for cricket aesthetics, Rohit had a greame swannesque action :)

In fact Indian full time bowlers were more dull to watch than the part timers like Sehwag, sachin (whose bowling was must watch) and Rohit. Yuvi was a throw back to the part time darter though.
