Gives you insight into what kind of person, and player this guy is.  Folks who hate on this guy should really read this and decide where they stand.

Key stats that explain why Pandya the batsman is so valuable to the Indian team:

The stats posted above show how Pandya the batsman is important for Mumbai Indians not India.

Pandya definitely is still our best bet as an allrounder but the guy has been injured for three years, international cricket isn't a joke. Some posters might prefer other players above him and they won't be wrong in doing that.

Also he needs to score atleast a fifty in t20i before he can actually qualify as a good allrounder in international t20is.

His ipl form didn't translate into T20Is and he's not even bowling anymore. He can compete with sky and pant for the pure batsman role, but we need to pick a different pace all-rounder

There's no point in comparing him with ARs right now. Question should be, can he be picked over pant/sky/kishan

SDP is Ind’s most (and rare) fearless cricketer … That fearless quality and the ability to hit the ball at will among Indian cricketers are worth their weight in gold.

IMO, should be made the  captain in T20s to create a fearless culture in the team. Is a good communicator and maintains friendly relationships with everyone as well.

Has been superb since IPL 2019, won MI many titles. Too bad that due to injuries had to sit out during the phase of some of his best form. Though still averaged 100+ in LOIs in Aus (far ahead of other Ind batsmen) and also was MoS in T20s.

Pant is the keeper, so not competing with Pandya.  Both SKY and Ishan are way better at the top order slots and have not demonstrated the ability to hit boundaries against top shelf int'l bowling, especially as soon as they get to the crease.

Its like comparing Raina and Badrinath in 2010 - bit of an exaggerated example, but the point holds.

Not sure why the hater hordes forget his clutch batting performances so conveniently.

Just because he started his India career as a bowler, for some, he's just that - a bowler who can bat a bit.  When in fact, he's precisely the reverse - a batsman who can bowl a bit.

Not me, but will occasionally rebut the cacophony when it gets too annoying.

Knowledgable cricket fans will celebrate a rare fearless Ind cricketer like SDP! His fielding makes an impact too.

Let’s hope that he is given the licence to go all out without worrying about getting out! That could further bring the best out of him.

i read it. he said his own name so many times i had to check it was hardik being interviewed and not someone else talking about hardik.

this was the best one...

'Because when your mind fights… I have two Hardiks inside me'

What I like about it is, the guy is honest.  He's not smooth, he's not sophisticated.  But has found a method that works for him  And you can't argue with the results.  He dropped out of school in 9th grade ffs, I mean, what do you expect?

Can the BCCI all him to play the entire FC season for Baroda? Do not pick him for the NZ and SA series or even for the SA A series irrespective of how he performs. Let him grind it out in the domestic circuit. Has been wrapped in cotton wool since the Australia tour last year. Enough of that. Let him show he still has desire to play for India.

Same should be the case with Bhuvi. For the last 3 years, post every injury, he's been picked after playing a match or two in domestic cricket. He should now be asked to play the full FC season as well, or at least 4-5 matches if not more.

We have enough younger bowlers to play in their place in the national side.
