The only caveat I would make to this team being the right one, is that it plays together for multiple games in a row and to give the batsmen the license and freedom to attack from ball 1 with the confidence they wont be dropped.

Struggling to challenge your team and cant.

I like KL as opener. Its his role and the best role for the team. You build a team around him and around the middle order of Kishan, Pant and SKY that can set and chase huge targets.

Jaddu and Thakur capable at 7 and 8 of chasing a total down if the damage has been done early in getting to a target. Gives good depth.

I would open with Bumrah and Siraj.

Eventually team India need to develop and have at least two batsmen that can bowl 4 overs if required in the long run.

As posted on other such threads:

Openers (also L-R combination)

* Gaikwad

* Iyer - can also bowl

3-4 (L-R combination can be maintained if required so if a right hander gets out a right hander is sent in)

* SKY - 360 degrees batting

* Kishan - to get some big hits in the middle overs

5-6 (L-R combination can be maintained if required) … to manage the death overs

* Pant

* SDP (Hardik)

Bowlers

* Bumrah

* Siraj

* Thakur - will bat at #7

* Bishnoi/ Varun C/ R Chahar/ … - a spinner in form

* Wild card: Nathu or Arshdeep - for yorkers and left arm angle, Avesh - can bowl at various stages, Malik - for pace, Harshal - if conditions suit his type of bowling, D Chahar - for PP bowling, …

Changes from previous version - Iyer comes in to open, Kishan moves to 4 from opening, Jadeja, who was there to play a Moeen type of role at 4, misses out but can be in the squad and played if in better form

I will pick a versatile side. Unreliable one-dimensional hacks should be dropped. Wil build a side like CSK.

Kishan

Venky Iyer

Kohli

Rohit

Rahul

Pant

Jadeja

Thakur

Natrajan or Deepak chaahr

Sundar or VC or RC

Bumrah

This gives us 9 players who can bat . If  Deepak plays ahead of Natti and Sundar ahead of VC that will be 10 batsmen.

6 bowlers.  2 wicket keepers.

No matter how you build you always end up with a one-dimensional unit.  India needs a gun death bowler to complement Bumrah, Natrjan's yorker skills are useful.

Also Kartik Tyagi should be groomed.

I would replace kishan with Gaikwad. He is more accomplished bat imo.

And

Chahal with Ash.

You dont need bat tell them to shell some and they dont even need to play for next 5yrs easy peasy

Venky Iyer

Kishan

Rahul

Sky

Pant

Pandya(Use him against spinners)

Shardul/D Chahar

Axar

Ashwin

Avesh

Bumrah

Lower order depth ensures players start aggressively from the start and even if we run into a Shaheen situation,you could trust Lord/Axar to get a few away at the end

Specialist bowlers are only guys with X factor either they can crank it to 145k or variations that can get wickets at any stage

 changes i would make to this squad is replace jaddu with sundar,an offie,who can bowl in power play with jaddu he has been too one dimensional in t20is, plus sundar is some one who looks more assured,with chahal or varun on other side sundar is some one who will take it away from lefties,him being left handed bat gives us another advantage,you can also add nattu or Arshdeep that gives you some one who can either bowl at death or bowl with new ball plus a left armer
