Indian cricket is at crossroads - a major long term crisis is likely. As FANS, we have only 2 options - follow and endure the pain, or move on from cricket.

Kohli is not going anywhere till he is fired.

He may "think" about giving up ODI captaincy after he has screwed up our 2023 WC and give another bhashan about " we were not brave enough ".

This man doesn't understand what accountability means...he has been sucking the blood out of RCB for a decade.

I think it must be obvious to all haath mein kuch nahin aana until he is captain.

Fathom this - NZ knocked us out in the semi finals of the 2019 WC, beat us in the finals of the ICC Test Championship, and now knocked us out in the T20 WC.

NZ while being a good cricketing country that always punches way above its weight -- is no Australia or Eng.

We can spend countless hours following the cricket team - it will result in ZILCH - we will have many more years of disappointment against reasonable expectations unless Loli is fired.

I consider 2 years extremely pivotal to Indian cricket.

2000 - SRT resigned after a disastrous captaincy stint, Ganguly took over, we blooded in Yuvraj and Zaheer. And then Sehwag and Bhajji the following year. Truely transformational.

2007  -1st round knock out from 2007 WC. New squad for T20, we become World champions. Dhoni takes over captaincy - we win everything under the sun.

We are once again at such a cross road. If the captaincy is not changed -Results will continue to be heart wrenching-  might as well quit following cricket.

We are at crossroads.

And as I said in one of the other threads, we SHOULD FORCE ourselves to be in cross roads every 7 years. Inspite of performance.

Else, our star worshipping foolish cricket fan will ensure the seniors linger on and on and on.

You are right...don;t know how you deduced the 7 year figure...but it seems to work.

2000, 2007, 2014.......and now 2021 - this is it.

put limit on captaincy duration.. one guy should not captain the team for 50,60 years at a stretch till his * son debuts..

let him captain for 4-5 years and groom youngsters for captaincy..

From 2005-07, Dravid captained.  2007-2008, Kumble was test captain. Dhoni captained till 2016 T20 WC.

True, we also should think about different captains based on the format if it makes sense. This will help us in transitioning a lot easier, doesn't allow a captain to get too comfortable & all powerful like Kohli has become.

We Indians are a joke, talk about India like it's some great "superpower" while living in  a country fully of ****, scum, and corruption, fake patriotism, bigotry, and people on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter etc spreading hate against minority religions in India.

Follow just one sport and worship it, even though we aren't very good at it, but in the last decade or so we have done ok at it, but ok isn't good enough.

So yes we should enjoy what we are given, instead of pretending we are a great country and comparing ourselves to Pakistan, too scared to even mention China as an enemy state.

Sit on the fence and refuses to call out China, we deserve the politician's, cricketers, Bollywood stars we choose, so lets continue to worship these people like gods.

Conduct witch hunts for 5 grams of drugs, while the cops and politician's who are the most corrupt get away police killings they like to call "encounters".

Yes India is indeed a wonderful country so wonderful that Indians are like cockroaches, or rats that will do anything to go to a foreign country and praise India from that country, and get all hurt when they get called out, India the great superpower, where everyone is a hypocrite.

I was one of those rats that left India for a better life in another country and thank god I did.

We were at the crossroads 2-3 years back itself, with the big 3 hogging all the batting time, youngsters not tried out even in dead rubber bilaterals, and Kaptan wrogn proudly proclaiming that the team didn't need a solid #4. Now the crisis is full blown, with the batting a joke and the bowling a bigger joke. It is clear that the team is spent and has nothing to give after non-stop cricket.

I was not happy with 5 or 10. So i picked a number in middle. Essentially a number out of thin air. :dontknow:

While most indian fans do believe that indian cricket is at cross roads.   Sir Hardik Pandya Game Changers Academy had officially stated few months ago that India can win any ICC tournament with its C Team.    This is the level of delusion.

Tbf our C teams are better than our A teams. They have more spine than their seniors.

We may not hv a good sample size to conclude anything right now.    But against SL last July,  our C team also looked equally clueless.

Man this current Indian team does not lack in skill. Most reputable cricket analysts had India as favorites and with good reason. The fact that they still underachieved massively despite having a strong team means that they lack mental fortitude.

I have been on this forum now for more than a decade and I am not even the senior most poster here.

The reason I had to bring that up is we aren’t going anywhere. This isn’t the first time India has been knocked out in the first round of WT20. We have seen it 2009,2010,2012.  Is it the most heartbreaking loss don’t think so either. We have been knocked out of winnable knockout games, lost to Pakistan in CT final which was way more hurtful than the league game in this championship.

So chill with the crossroads overreaction.

If you can’t take a couple of lows along with the highs then you aren’t a fan.

Indian cricket will move on. If someone loses their passion for cricket it is what it is. It can happen today or tomorrow. I personally know of people who were hardcore cricket fans before 1999-2000 who stopped watching cricket forever after the match fixing saga. There are some who gave up cricket after Sachin,Dravid,Dada,Kumble,Laxman etc retired.

This is overreaction lol. The hardcore fans like us on the forum will hang around because we have a lot more tolerance.

Long story short you are saying you have conditioned your mind to mediocrity and underachievement  of the cricket team since you are a “ hard core fan “ and that….

— One should not be very disappointed at such results since there have been a lot of precedents which you enumerated.

All I can say is that- that is entirely your perspective.

Nothing has changed . Kohli will be captain till odi wc. India will reach qf and then we will loose . Kohli will blame our lack of energy . Or Mars . Or saturn . He will get another paycheque . Cricketers will grow rich

I am proud to say I haven’t watched a single live game last 4 years since champions trophy exit . Kohli has no commonsense . Is an adrenaline junkie .some good players lost out on captaincy

currently u need

- pant or sky as t20 captain . People willing to take risks .
- Rohit / jadeja to be odi captain - each brings in character and have performed

- ashwin / pujara as test captains . Level headed , walk the talk guys . Or pant as test captain

don’t watch cricket . Workout . Concentrate on ur fitnes . If we reach finals , then it’s worth watching . Ipl is a tamasha - I haven’t watched or followed a single ipl game since it started .
