Looks like they are scared to try a young  captain who can threaten Rohits position

Why does the captaincy always have to go to a senior and a batsman !!

Dhawan In SL and Rahul now.

Why not choose a young captain who can actually be a good captain in the long run !!

I am not sure these guys have the confidence that the selectors showed back in 2007 to select Dhoni as captain. KL is a known failure and could take this team even backwards that Kohli couldn't.

Rahul is piss poor he will be even worst captain than kohli. As he can't handle pressure while batting let alone captaincy.

Several issues if this article is true.

1. What are Rahul's credentials for captaincy? The IPL team he captains is known to choke when close to winning and it is always close to the bottom of the table. Are we encouraging a "choking" culture here?

2. Why do "senior" players need to be "rested"? Why can't BCCI outright drop these non performers? Why doesn't BCCI show some guts and send a strong message? Always looking for an easy way out.

Forget captaincy this fraud Rahul shouldn't be anywhere near our t20i side, this midget is a looser,

has a worst bodylanguage. Have seen enough of this clown,

he'll score a tonne of runs in meaningless matches and then pee in his pants when the stakes are highest against a competent bowling attack

The selectors are stupid, why not try a young skipper instead? Pant, Kishan, and Shaw all have the makings of good captain

India has been about being theoretical, safe, and old fashioned.

Many KPIs that the country follows are poor - # of runs/wkt/avg without considering SR, GDP without considering GDP per capita, Equating being better as being better than Pak, ..., while turning the country into a garbage bin :((

Never forget that the then senior most guy in the team who is also the all time superstar was supporting MSDs promotion making way amidst Yuvraj, Sehwag, Harbajan, etc.

The one who is remotely in that position now is Lolli. Earth would spin the other way if he would suggest someone other than him.

Also I lost all the respect for Ganguly. Thought he would be a dynamic administrator. His era seem to be the most toothless and spineless.

Has Rahul done anything of note in the 7 years of his career ?

Even Pandya has more impactful innings in his career.

Till 2019 WC, few ICFers (possibly from Karnataka) always used to take jibe at whoever criticizes this mental midget KL.  But since then, all those hv disappeared for obvious reasons.          Now, coming back to the topic , KL has done absolutely nothing of note in LOIs.   He averages in single digit in T20 this year , after having played 6 matches. (4 against Eng and 2 in this WC) Spineless bcci could hv found a better alternative in players like Pant or some other youngster.

Agree with everything except he is not a midget (unless you meant mental midget)

Believe it or not, he is 6 feet tall.  His body language makes him seem shorter and smaller than he really is

Rahul might surprise you. People had expectation from Kohli which didn’t work whereas people didn’t expect Dhoni to succeed as player never mind as captain. Stranger things can happen.

Kohli had problems winning a ICC trophy which many earmarked him to do. However, there is no taking away from him for credit for fast bowling surge under his captaincy. It resulted in series wins twice in Aus and a series lead in Eng.

He has been a disappointing captain in KOs. But he has led the team well to key wins in SENA countries that most countries have not achieved.

Ans to 1: he's fairly good looking and a showboater and a choker. these 3 traits are highly valued by BCCi, especially the third.

Ans to 2: it's because these senior players wield disproportionate power within BCCI and cannot be dropped outwardly
