asterix Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 I had some apprehension about DRAWid taking over as head coach. Hea now managed to deliver loads of crap in his first Test series… Knowing him well, I’m not expecting any major changes. He’s been extremely defensive in nature. He’d rather sat there and chew his nail than do anything. Bewda was 1000 times better than him… nitinbwj, Vilander, vivek04 and 5 others 1 4 2 1
Chakdephatte Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 (edited) Bewda was abused when he was the coach. Dravid will be 'missed' when he retires from coaching as well. Fans are always reactionary. Wait for some time to form a judgement about Dravid. Yes, the initial impression is not good. Bewda was not seen as a great coach either. vvvslaxman Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 He was going to be conservative always. That was a given. One thing i expected was improvement of batting overseas. Sure they have this dud Vikram Rathore as batting coach. I still expected this improvement from Dravid. From a strategy perspective Dravid has always been a conservative guy. He follows the book. Having said once we get rid of the dead woods and he inherits a bunch of youngsters we can see the change. Sbhuman Gill's batting success in the under-19 world cup can be attributed to Dravid's advice. So i sincerely hope that India once again becomes a batting force that once it was. If all teams improve their batting our 5 bowler theory will be exposed. So we need to get the balance right. asterix 1
ShoonyaSifar Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 What for? Dravid has inherited the mess created by him and has been in charge for only two months. Initial team selection has been terrible but then till the time BCCI shows the guts to change the test captain, transition to a new era isn't happening. Frustrated and Clarke 2
Lord Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Dravid's main job is to start the transition and help the young guys in their early years. But for that he needs to have a bigger say in team selection.

All U19 players need 70-80% mental and technical coaching and 20-30% strategy, planning , discipline, mental seasoning and ego management Senior team needs 20-30% technical coaching that too when they are struggling. They generally know what they are doing. Its other stuff which needs 70-90%
RedFever Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Positions 3,4,5 should be the pillars of a batting line up. That was the main reason for our failure in this series. Maybe Dravid was ready to sacrifice one test series for the larger picture, as he may be sure Purane were not going to perform in this series and will be out of the team forever . sarcastic and SRT100 1 1

In tests, you should be able to rely on one of 3,4,5 to not only anchor an innings but score close to a century each time. The fact there has been just one century in over 100 innings for 3,4,5 is the reason India are in trouble in test cricket. @Vijy@express bowling express bowling and Vijy 2

Dravid was indirectly under pressure to give them one more series just because they are in the squad. Very reason they were even picked in the squad was to give them one more shot. Being in the squad and not playing them will defeat the purpose of selectors including them. He probably had to bite the bullet and play. But we missed a golden opportunity to register a series win in SA.

Frustrated Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Well, it has been almost 8 months of team india under Dravid. (Since Nov 2021). The shocking results are there for everyone to see. We hv defeated only the lower ranked teams like Windies and Lanka at home. Could not beat SA in home T20. Almost lost T20 match to Ireland. . I don't even want to get started on what happened in the SA tour. Now, it's high time, some serious questions need to be asked. If there are no visible results in few months, he needs to be sacked. It's perform or perish. vivek04 1
Sandz Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 At the end of the day BCCI is not a public body, they can do whatever the heck they want and millions will still tune in to watch team India play, and they know that.
Sandz Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 And in Ravi’s tribute I just bought some Belgian beer to enjoy tonight.
