Sooda
https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/border-gavaskar-trophy-team-india-could-field-four-spinners-as-a-plan-to-prepare-rank-turners-8427574/ This is a terrible idea. We are not good players of spin and rank turners make ordinary spin bowlers look world class. Remember Michael Clarke, in 04 Aus came very close... and Steven O Keefe 12-fer. Also it is embarrassing that we feel we need to resort to this. Home advantage is one thing. This is taking it too far. Link to comment
zen
If true, a pathetic (and cowardly) way of playing cricket as on rank turners batsmen struggle on both front and back foot. India is known to eventually kill the golden goose by spoiling whatever it touches. sarchasm 1 Link to comment
Moochad
We are free to prepare whatever pitches we think give us the best chance to win. Our 4 spinners Jadeja/Ash/Yadav/Axar can all bat as well so there is that advantage there as well. I do think it is risk though. It may make one of the aussie spinners look like Warne. R!TTER
3 Spinners are more than enough, bring in Sundar & pack batting till 10 with just a single pacer like Shami at the end! But the issue is on dank tuners we've just won 1 game batting second from memory - against Eng at Ahmedabad 2021, that too the ball skidded on that's why India should go with good tracks with something in it for our pacers as well, remember Oz is slightly depleted with Starc & Hazlewood out, they don't have Green either so they'll most likely play only 2 frontline pacers+spinners & that's why a relatively balanced track will be great for us, again provided at least 2-3 of the top 6 perform with the bat. On balance wicket I expect us to win easily whether batting first or second, on dank turners it's really a lottery Link to comment
Lord
its not needed. Make normal Indian tracks like Chennai 2013 cowboysfan and putrevus 1 1 Link to comment
Gollum
Make pitches like the 2013 series. We won 4-0 and also scored 6-7 100s in the 4 test series. Rank turners only reduce the gap between 2 sets of spinners, on traditional Indian pitches the gulf in quality shifts decisively in our favor. We finally have a good pool of genuine quicks, why keep them away from action. Fans want to see Siraj, Shami, Umesh bowling 140 kph reverse swinging thunderbolts and smashing stumps and toes. AuxiliA
4 spinners are an overkill. Must play 2 pacers atleast no matter the pitch. I will pick Axar over Kuldeep on a rank Turner. And play the best wicket keeper (Bharat) without worrying about his batting. Link to comment
Gollum
Terrible, terrible idea if we go with plan of rank turners. We also don't have our 2 best players against spin, Pant and Iyer. express bowling 1 Link to comment
Gollum
Last test in Nagpur was against Lanka (with Herath) in 2017. We won by innings and 240, 610/6 decl., Kohli 200, 100s by Vijay, Pujara and Rohit. Umesh and Ishant did well. Extreme pitches only narrow the gap between us and visitors. express bowling 1 Link to comment
Lord
might be just mind games. Will be a normal track Gollum and BacktoCricaddict 2 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Smith is more likely to guts it out than Kohli. Wait and watch Pujara groping at the ball making 5 runs in 200 balls before getting out. Link to comment
Bigg Brother
Rank turners will always work against us. Remember apart from Lyon and Agar, even Aussie batsmen can roll their arm over (Head,Labuschagne,Smith) unlike our bozos. So Aussies are equally equipped in that department. Also, Our batsmen are no world beaters either with bat. 4 spinners is terrible idea.. 2013 Aussie series or 2016-17 England series like pitches should be ideal, that would also shut the crying experts who have already started cribbing about "Fair" pitches. Lone Wolf
3 spinners is what we will go with... I can't believe posters are taking it seriously. This is false flag clearly. One spinner in three always gets under bowled... No chance of a 4th. Aussies would do well if they don't fell for this. 5th gen warfare in sports... BCCI one step ahead than GOI. Someone call Major Arya in here Edited February 6, 2023 by Lone Wolf Gollum, Lord and singhvivek141 1 2 Link to comment

Gollum
I too think we are trying to mislead them by planting such speculations. Even Dravid isn't that insane. Lone Wolf 1 Link to comment

Serpico
If its a rank turner, two best spinners should be able to do the job. Better pick extra batsmen Number 1 Link to comment
