And former opener Gautam Gambhir reckons that India's total supremacy is not good for subcontinental cricket after the hosts handed a seven-wicket mauling to Pakistan in the World Cup match.

"Hammering along with domination. You use this word very rarely, that too when you are playing against Pakistan. If you see the results, Pakistan used to hammer India like this for a long time. However, for the last many years, India have dominated. This is bad for subcontinental cricket," Gambhir told Star Sports.

We always used to say that if we have an India-Pakistan series, it will be competitive. An India-Pakistan series is not going to be competitive at all because there is a massive difference between the two sides," he added.

Why do we never hear similar statements from ex Aussie cricketers after everytime they beat their southern neighbours black and blue. Why do we never hear these statements whenever India dominates Srilanka and Bangladesh. What's so special about Pakistan that warrants these kind of statements.

The Goras treat cricket only as a sport. The Desis treat it as a War.

The innate need to virtue signal is a constant among 90% of Indians.

Add the lack of Shatrubodh and it leads to this phenomenon where you show sympathy to even a literal Jihadi state that wants to kill you by a 1000 cuts.

On the one hand India wants to be a super power. On the other hand some Indians become sad if we dominate in a 10 nation sport.  Not the way to think IMO if we want to develop champion mentality.

We should look to dominate everywhere.

And we do not play Pakistan in bilaterals. It would be great for cricket if we can dominate Pakistan in the one or two matches we play against them each year.

Only those who've fought wars might treat it as such, most sane/rational individuals do not! It's just media hype as far as I'm concerned like that *ing stupid Nikhil Naz going to Lord's for the 100th hundred :whack:

Well Pakistan dominated us in cricket in the 70s till 90s. In hockey they bullied us till 2000s. Now that we are dominating them, some Indians are unhappy? Does India want to be a sporting power or not? The great sporting countries like Russia, USA, China, Australia relish dominating others, and look at this sample. Why would you feel sorry for your opponent after beating them fair and square?

I don't think they ever dominated us, they won in Pakistan mainly due to umpires. They did win lot in Sharjah.

No need to get defensive. They were better in cricket in that period. We were horrible except couple of years here and there like early 70s, 1983-86 etc. We had Gavaskar and Solkar as opening bowlers. And in 80s our spinners were Arshad Ayub, Ravi Shastri, Siva, Doshi, Maninder etc....no wonder we lost so frequently at home.
