MechEng
Yes, there is always that one cricketer whom you want to never score runs or take wickets and gave you anxiety when they were batting/bowling in flow. I have been following cricket since 1997-98, and the cricketer that made me most uncomfortable was Ricky Ponting. Yes, we all remember that 140 in the World Cup finals, but more than that I also feared him whenever I supported sides like NZ, WI, SL playing the decider game in an ODI series against Australia. You knew it, once set, he won games, big games. His contemporaries like Gilchrist, Hayden, Warne, McGrath, Symonds, Akhtar, Inzamam, Lara and other greats from the 90s never gave me the same kind of anxiety. Even the present generation cricketers like Stokes, AB D, Steve Smith, Steyn, Root or Broad don't have that sort of impact on me. So who was that one cricketer whom you feared the most and wanted him to fail badly everytime? Edited December 1, 2023 by MechEng Link to comment
singhvivek141
Sanath Jayasuria...he was a beast. The pair of Jayasuria & Aravinda D Silva was my biggest fear. MechEng, adkrish22290, zaqw222222 and 4 others 1 6 Link to comment

Texan
Saeed Anwar, Younis Khan... they always made big runs against India. Once these guys got set, Indian bowlers found it very difficult to get them out Gollum, vivek04 and adkrish22290 1 2 Link to comment
Nash
Flower brothers from Zimbabwe. Not terrorizing but frustrating specially in test matches in india. Andy was hitting centuries on demand and prolonging out inevitable victories for days. adkrish22290 and Gollum 1 1 Link to comment

adkrish22290
As someone who started watching cricket in the mid-to-late nineties (1996-97), it has to be Sanath Jayasuriya. He always played his best against India. Edited December 1, 2023 by adkrish22290 singhvivek141 1 Link to comment
Gollum
Sanath Jayasuriya tops the list. Even as a washed up buddha he scored a matchwinning 100 in the 2008 Asia Cup final. That too was a brutal knock. Laaloo, singhvivek141, Iconoclast and 1 other 4 Link to comment

BacktoCricaddict
I hate to admit it. J...d M.....d. I mostly just hated him but was always scared he'd take matches away, and he did that a lot. Which is why I remember the 1996 WC match so fondly. Other than the Venkatesh Prasad win, it was fun to watch jm scratch around and finally get out to seal the deal. Link to comment

nevada
All mentioned names are past cricketers. Why dig up old wounds? I will go with fresh ones. Travis Head. Ruined two finals for us. Steve Smith - the name is enough Cummins - ditto Lyon - hurls grenades on day five Kane Anchorson - perpetual thorn Daryl Mitchell - ditto Clouderson - will he ever retire? Maybe it's a weaker era now, because just the Paxtan team of yesteryear had an assortment of nightmare players against us - Miandad, Anwar, Salim Malik, Ijaz Ahmed, Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq, Aqib Javed, Afridi, Chukhtar, Chukaib,Younis Khan etc. Link to comment
Majestic
David Warner and Kane Williamson whenever they played against RCB. Link to comment
