Ultimate_Game Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 I mean if you give any random player 10 tourneys across formats, I'm sure even someone like Manvinder Bisla, Saha, Manish Pandey or any random no-name average batsman would've fluked a knock. But hats off to Kohli for consistently coming up small in knockouts! This level of consistency has to be applauded. At least I've never seen any batsman in my lifetime, or heard of anyone who has failed so many times when it matters. At this time I'm surprised why the team picks him for knockouts, or why he himself doesn't drop out by himself deepdynamo, Frustrated and G_B_ 1 2

Problem is BCCI no longer thinks about what is good for Indian cricket. They operate on two primary premises: 1. Which decision will generate less controversy and backlash? 2. Which players have strong brand backing to help with revenue generation? There is absolutely no cricketing reason why Kohli should be in the team, but the above two considerations will keep him in the team until perpetuity. nevada and Ultimate_Game 2
Number Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 His innings in Mumbai 23 SF against NZ was a match losing one too. It was Shreyas and Gill who put us in safe zone. Kohli in mid innings break said he thought 340 was a winning total. It didn't turn out to be that way. His innings against SA in 2014 remaims his only great knock out innings. singhvivek141 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) Blame the Chinnaswamy. Those 40 m boundaries at high altitude with a flat patta gave the wrong perception to everyone. Kohli's game is not to force along...he reacts to the ball. Here he was premeditating assuming is a true bounce flat patta pitch. Popular Post Jamadagni Posted June 27, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) 2011 WC Final - 35 - Very crucial partnership with Gambhir. 2013 CT final - 43 - Highest scorer 2014 T20 WC semis - 72* 2014 T20 WC final - 77 - Would have been match-winning if not for Yuvi. 2016 T20 WC QF vs Australia - 80* - ATG knock 2016 T20 semis - 89* - Just check Rohit's and Rahane's innings in the same match. 2023 WC Semis - 117 - He had a specific role in the team for that WC and did well throughout the world cup. 2023 WC final - 54 - Compare this with the loser's knock in the partnership at the other end. Kohli was striking at 90 and did well. These are all knockout matches, and there are numerous other matches especially vs Pakistan where has done very well almost every time. This is the first ODI WC or T20 WC where he has completely failed. I'd also blame Rohit and Dravid more for this as they wanted to have that loser Dube in the XI. If Kohli was captain, he wouldn't have opened for sure. What's even this thread about? Edited June 27, 2024 by Jamadagni I6MTW, Lord, Norman and 7 others 1 4 5

Credit to Rohit, Bumrah, Kuldeep etc. who're carrying this selfish git. And he's taking up the most important spot of an opener. He doesn't give a shyte about the team. It's all about him at the moment. If he could swallow his ego a bit he would go back to 3 and let someone like Jaiswal come in as opener.
The Realist Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 He's become like Eoin Morgan who was finished but kept hanging around and stinking it out. End wisely decided to move on from Morgan but Ind are delusional - despite the data showing how much he is declined - and still continue to drag Kohli's corpse from one tournament to another. nevada, nitinbwj and Ultimate_Game 1 2

Morgan retired on his own. And England didn't even cross the league stage in that World Cup. What a terrible example.

But they also show that he is unsuited to play in the top order of a modern T20I team. 2016 is the last time he shows up on your list. That was a whole generation ago. Kohli should've walked away from t20Is. That's what the thread should be about. And can we have a thread supporting one player without demeaning another? Either way I am rooting for him to click in the final. As long as India wins it's all good. Edited June 27, 2024 by BacktoCricaddict nevada 1

Jadeja/Dube/Rishab pant failed thus far but no one talks about them, just spit venom against kohli?

Jumping around the crease and wildly slogging is not his game. Hit an effortless six last night and then blindly slogged the next ball. Dravid needs to talk to him.
