Lord Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Was Neeraj really expected to win having never breached 90 and others having done it previously? Laaloo and SRT_1OO 2
rangeelaraja Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Neeraj assumed that no one in the field could cross 90 on the big day and he could deliver 89+ and walk away with gold. He is the best we have, but he should have known that without besting 90+ consistently - he was never guaranteed a medal, let alone a gold medal.

Real McCoy Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 This olympics is cruel for us. How many 4th place finishes? two days ago, our gold at hockey was denied. now, a padosi olympian beats our guy with an olympic record throw. Just as we were saying it was a freak throw, he backs it up in the final attempt with another 90+ throw. Paris olympics - our envy, neighbors pride New guy 1

He was a Olympic medalist and a world champion. And a silver now. Nadeem, Anderson Peters etc are merculiar. On their day they can easily throw 90+ but don't even cross 85 in some other days whereas Neeraj always throws 87+ in every final.

neel roy Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Nadeems throw is more smooth and he built like a tank nitinbwj 1
MechEng Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Muscle mass can be overrated, those shredded Czech and Carribean athletes could not breach the 90 mark like Arshad jiggly fat Nadeem. Lord and Real McCoy 2
Number Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 It is a testament of Neeraj's mental strength that he was able to hit 89+ despite being under pressure from his 2nd attempt. Real McCoy 1

Let’s give him the credit and appreciate Neeraj who is an ATG of the sport. 1 gold and 1 silver in Olympics. Let’s take pride in that. Yes I don’t like to see a Paxtani win but it is what it is he played fair and won so no gripe. (Subject to his dope test though. Never know with these guys) nevada 1
