Ultimate_Game Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 He's done. No amount of playing Duleep, domestic or any other tourney is gonna help him. The guy is 38 and has been on a decline over the last 4 years - averaging 32-33 over the last 4 years. There's a reason Indian team looks better without him. Our real stars have been our bowlers and lower order batsmen such as Pant, Jadeja, Ashwin, Axar, Washington Sundar etc. It's a travesty that we dropped likes of Sarfaraz and Jurel to bring back has beens Kohli and KL Rahul. Chakdephatte Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Kohli now plays only about 30 games per year. Apart from IPL. His 'workload management' has become 'lack of match practice'. There is no way out from here. rollingstoned 1

Nearly 5 years is not a temporary slump, it's almost half the career of most players. In fact Kohli's slump is now greater than his peak from 2014-2018, i.e. 4-5 years of peak and 5 years of slump. He adds absolutely no value to the team. Averages around 33 as a top order batsman, can't bowl and drops catches. Better to have Axar who can at least bowl and will give you similar performance with the bat. Or go with Sarfaraz who has been our best domestic bat over the last 4 years. nevada, cricspirit, mani sha and 5 others 1 2 5

You can replace Kohli and KL Rahul with any random Ranji player and there wouldn't be any difference in the team's performances. When they've to show up in away series or in WTC final, they go missing as usual, and the bowlers get blamed despite the bowlers and lower order carrying the team to the WTC final. nevada, raki05 and Lord 3
vvvslaxman Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 I have a hunch if India had played without Kohli in the last few years we would have won more matches. Stan AF and nitinbwj 1 1
Nikhil_cric Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 It's not so much that he is not playing domestic as he hasn't worked on his game in the last 4 years. Root has ruthlessly worked on his game and he hasnt played a whole lot of domestic either. In fact, he goes and plays even overseas leagues. Root doubled down on the strokes where his averages were high and eschewed his low percentage shots. Kohli has done nothing of the sort. Still trying to cover drive fast bowlers by advancing down the pitch . Chakdephatte, Number and nitinbwj 3

Drives me crazy thinking about it lol. Then we come up with genius moves like 4 pacer template (regardless of conditions overseas) while ignoring trimurtis non performance. Oval pitch is the closest to subcontinent pitch. Ashwin is probably the biggest nemesis of Australians. Look at the 2021-2023 cycle. This guy was sitting out. But discarded Rahane came back straight into playing XI based on one innings in the IPL at wankhede. We played 4 useless pace bowlers there. Ridiculous. rollingstoned 1

Let him play RCB and try to win IPL.
