Texan Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 His bowling average at home against different teams: v Aus: 20.10 (4 Tests) v Eng: 56.50 (5 Tests) v NZ : 15.91 (5 Tests) vs SA : 11.12 (4 Tests) vs WI : 21.64 (5 Tests) Have England sorted him out or does Ashwin still have an ace up his sleeve that he can use in this series? The first innings in Rajkot did not improve his record one bit. tweaker, beetle, G_B_ and 1 other 4
G_B_ Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 was just going to make this thread.... We seem to have to measure of SA and Aus (even performances away have been better) but England is just for some reason out of reach.
gattaca Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Have seen highlights of young spinner running through English batsman. Ashwin is good give him sometime before making assumptions. Pitch was also flat.
sandeep Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I'm hoping our captain and vice captain do their jobs and give Ashwin a chance to win this on D5. If we get a 50 run lead, chances of him doing so are pretty good. But odds of us getting that 50 run lead are not as good.
cric_fan Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Nah, pitch is dead = Ashwin useless Vilander and Iconoclast 2

Just that you need to be genuinely good to get wickets on such surface. That and need to plan against English batting line-up which no one seems to have done due to Diwali celebrations and what not.
chewy Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 More like England is boogie team for India Jimmy Cliff 1

fineleg Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Day-1 pitch Ashwin and Mishra have an excuse. Now Day-4 pitch, after England spinners have done reasonably well. And even on last session of Day-4, Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra are not able to get wickets, this is England spinners doing better than our spinners on Indian pitch (Day3/4).
fineleg Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Can R. Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra not even outfox a 19-year old batsman playing on debut on a Day-4 Indian pitch? He is batting on a comfortable 60+ going into day-5.
Singh bling Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Ashwin is very good on spinning wickets and against Batsmen which are not so good against spin. He is not so good when pitch is not helping and Batsmen are decent player of spin WC2011INDIA 1

I think he has, but I want to recollect the names. Edited November 12, 2016 by fineleg
Lannister Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Not just to Ashwin, to whole Indian team. Our players get uncomfortable seeing their discipline on the field.
kubrickian Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 This pitch is flat as a pancake. He will destroy Eng in the rest of the matches.
Adi_91 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 I am confused with this performance stat against England. I thought England is after all the most vulnerable to spin.

Laaloo Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Yeah bad precedent to set in the first test. Hopefully he can stop bowling his middle and leg stump line. That is more annoying to be honest. Lord 1
vayuu1 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 This is 2012 all over again. Somehow it seems to me that England have solved the Ashwin riddle. The reason is ,he doesn't put revs behind his bowling and is bowling slower through air same with mishra, you need to put your body behind every delivery, also needs to bowl at quicker pace, a pace of 75-85 kph is good against players who don't use feet against spin, but guys like root, cook, Ali, will use their feet , so need to be atleast 10 kph quicker, also need to attack an area outside off stump a bit more, with all fielders inside the ring, the English spinners, have all been on quicker side, hopefully kohli and Co realise it early, I think all those easy wickets have made ashwin and mishra even the whole Indian team relaxed, may be they realise that, u cannot take this English team for granted, also these guys have experience of playing 5 test match series on regular basis, so you have to be on ur toes all time.
