Been watching these verdict videos on YT.   Thanks for uploading them.  Been fun to see the "other side" moan and vent while we are dishing out beat-downs.  Although, the number of times I've had to hear the phrase "in these conditions" - if it were a drinking game, I'd be dead by now.  Can't wait for India to beat England in their own house, which I'm starting to believe they will - to throw that phrase around:isalute:

I would say this is our 2nd greatest series win ever. Next to 2001 of course.

I would put Srilankan series as better than this one, we were bossing the first test but somehow managed to lose it. To win the series from there that too away from home is bigger achievement. This series is culmination of that fight back which was started in that series.

That one was good too. But this one, losing tosses, crucial tosses, conceding 400 + runs. The only reason it's not 5-0 is because 1st half hour of the first test. We dropped 3 freaking catches. If I have to rank series wins since 2000:

1. 2001 Aus

2. This one

3. Pak 2004

4. SL 2015

5. Eng 2007

6. NZ 2009

7. Aus at home 2012

8. Aus at home 2008

9. South Africa 2016

10. In Windies 2006 - Although this could be a bit higher.

This was our best performance along with the series vs Australia in 2012, in terms of dominance over the other team.

However, in terms of competitive series win, I would have 2007 series win in England at no.2 with 2001 vs Australia being the most competitive.

I also would rate our 2006 series win in West Indies with Dravid as captain very highly.  West Indies had a good team with all Lara, Chanderpail, Gayle and Sarwan and we were missing Tendulkar and had inexperienced bowling attack of Munaf and Sreesanth. Dravid showed how to bat in the last test where everyone failed and we won a hard fought test to win the series 1-0. One of the best series win it was.

This show prides itself on just being a chuntering show when England (regularly) * up. In fact I only ever watch it when England lose! It's boring when they do well. Bob always says exactly what I'm thinking.

Where do you put our Overseas wins in

- Pak 2003

- Eng-2007 (against Vaughan)

-  WestIndies 2006 (with Lara /Sarwan/Chanderpaul)

- the 1971 Wadekars win against England?

Mark Butcher said exactly what I was saying, this England side has many number 6/7/8s but no number 4 or number 5 .It is not Ali's fault he is asked to bat at number 4.

Good point. Too many bits and pieces cricketers in the Eng line up. And their spinners not in the same league as India's.

I posted a couple of posts above you. Pak 2004 and Eng 2007 will obviously be in the top 5. Unfortunately I dont know much about the 1971 series or how it impacted Indian cricket. The west Indies will also be a bit high because we won after so many years. Came agonizingly close in 1997 but fell short and that horrific collapse chasing 120.

I've always believed our team played their best cricket in 2007-08 tour to Australia. We lost the series, but probably played our best game, even better than 2001. Australia had no Mcgrath and Warne but still were the best side in the world comfortably.

Yes because of DRS there is no excuse. It is all the more sweeter given that they won the toss. Sure they had some players injured. We also had players injured. They dropped catches. We also did.  Inspite of all  that we outplayed them convincingly .

2007-08 Australian series was the best overseas series Indians played  during fab 5 era for three tests after their usual first test fiasco.Bret lee was at his peak then. They should have won that Sydney test and series.

1971  Eng & West Indies series wins will no doubt be in top 10..
