Popular Post vvvslaxman
Looking at the way they use him, i see he is just a backup for Pandya. Looks like they never seriously consider as someone who will be in the starting XI. This is even after the fact they realized Rayudu is crap, Rahul is still the same inconsistent Rahul, Jadhav is unreliable against good fast bowling. They back all of them not this guy. I think Rohit sharma has more trust in SHankar than Kohli. This guy is a hard working fielder, accurate bowler, very flexible batsman who can bat from no.3 to no.7 anywhere. He has orthodox shots also aggressive shots. GOod against pace and spin. Is KL Rahul getting promoted by any sponsors? beetle, Laaloo, Rightarmfast and 7 others 10 Link to comment
Khota
Way Shankar is playing right now someone has to be extremely biased to question his spot on the team. I was one of those but his work speaks for itself. Shankar >>>>> Pandya. GolGappe, beetle and Rightarmfast 1 2 Link to comment
bowl_out
The question should be Shankar vs Rayudu vs Rahul... It should not be about Pandya who plays a very different role.. Wonder why the management fails to see that. sandsaims 1 Link to comment
beetle
Shankar in current avatar gives so much confidence . Should be on the plane to England. velu, Gollum, RAZPOR and 2 others 5 Link to comment

cowboysfan
IMo Shankar is not a bowler, his lack of pace is a non starter,he should be developed as a batsman and his place in the team should not be linked with Pandya. Link to comment
The Dark Horse
Sad thing is he's getting shunted up and down when he's in prime form...he deserves a consistent run at no. 4. Gollum, Mosher, RAZPOR and 5 others 8 Link to comment
Gollum
I read that a few years back he hardly bowled and that when he first started he was 110-120 kph type trundler. Purely on the back of hard work he has made it to the 130s now...hope he can add a few variations going forward. Looks like an honest trier who doesn't BS around, not very talented but someone who can get the best out of his abilities. I respect such cricketers, really hope he gets a long secure run at #4...also should be tried in the test team at #5/#6. RAZPOR
Shankar looks like a very honest player ,gives his all,no arrogance just goes about his business .He deserves to be given a run i would really like to see him at no 4 . Unfortunately for us our stupid selections mean he would hardly get a look in at no 4. Edited March 10, 2019 by RAZPOR Mosher 1 Link to comment
GolGappe
Excellent prospect. Disciplined bowling, 110% contributor as fielder, and batting is getting steadily better and better. He was barely touching 125kmph in NZ but has been hovering around 130kmph in this series. He will get faster and stronger. Inclusion of in-form Hardik and Shankar will give captain so much flexibility. Link to comment

It is very hard to predict the batting or bowling of Jadhav. The only thing we can predict is Jadhav's fielding which is crap. Besides Jadhav is highly injury prone with a weak hamstring. Pandya has back problems. It will take a while to recover. So India needs a cushion. flamy 1 Link to comment
flamy
They seriously need to play Shankar at 4 or 5. He is the only other bat I can trust in the team as of now for consistency. Link to comment
mishra
I have more or less decided on best 11 based on whats avaialble. Dhawan Rohit kohli Shankar MSD kedhar Hardik kuldeep Bhumrah Bhuvi/Shami Chahal/Pant prasen82 and Forever Indian 2 Link to comment
Ankit_sharma03
shankar shud play at 4 in Wc and give him security that he wont be dropped or shuffled in batting order, his bowling is a bonus and will come in handy in one of WC games in right condition mishra and flamy 2 Link to comment
flamy
Dunno why team is stubborn about not playing Shankar up the order. Link to comment

They want to keep that position uncertain so that Rayudu can come back. Kohli unnecessarily batted at 4 when we are scouting for players at no.4 mishra and sandsaims 1 1 Link to comment

jusarrived
Tbh we have seen very little of Shankar , good signs but not sure enough to secure him a spot in playing 11 . its a shame that we have wasted so much time on Rayudu . Could have easily given a run of 10 games at least to 3-4 other batsmen and made a call accordingly Link to comment
