BD players on strike. India tour under threat.

Bangladesh's cricketers have decided not to participate in any cricket activity for the foreseeable future until their demands for the improvement of cricket in the country are met. The immediate impact of their action will be on the National Cricket League, currently in progress, the training camp for next month's tour of India, and possibly the tour itself.

The players released a list of 11 demands, including a reversal of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's decision last month to abandon the Bangladesh Premier League's franchise-based model. Those present at the press conference, at the National Cricket Academy in Dhaka, included Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah.

"Everything is included," said Shakib. "Apart from the Under-19s and the other age-group teams, all first-class and national teams are included. From today. From the National Cricket League to first-class, national team preparations, internationals…everything is included."

The BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said they would react only once the demands are presented to them formally and they know the details.

Asked what response they anticipated from the board, Shakib said solutions would be found when the demands were met or discussed. "When the demands are met, normal service will resume. All of us want cricket to improve. Some of us will play for another ten years, some for four-five years, but we want to create a good environment for the players who will come after us, so Bangladesh cricket can move forward."

If they don't tour, BCCI should take action and by action I mean hellfire. This is becoming a habit for dissenting players before India tours, that WI stunt and now this. Annoying because they want to start their internal fights using India tour as leverage. Despite all our help for these minor countries, BD got test status because of Dalmiya and we have fulfilled our duties as touring party...with aplomb.

Loduon ko gandmasti karne ki bahut chadhi hai naa, chalo ham bhi zara shaamil ho jaye. No weakness, Kangladeshi board/players ko aur kangal karo. Or they can do the right thing and postpone their intra Bongu gandmasti by a couple of months.

I don’t think it’s due to a problem they have with India or BCCI. It seems like an internal conflict.

A fight between players and the board especially the cricket boards in the subcontinent with all those corrupt aholes, it is very easy to pick a side.

BCCI can easily replace and arrange a quick series with another team. I am sure they will be licking their lips.

Afghanistan can play the T20 series and they are much more competitive than toygers in that format any ways.

Tests bring on WI and SL. The hitman needs to make up for missing out all these years.

I think you missed my point.

What I am trying to say is that they bring up these disputes before India tour to put the board in a tight spot. No board would ideally want to piss off BCCI, so more leverage for the players. WI stars did the same thing a few years back. If they ever do this before a series against say Pak, their board wouldn't give two *s and even PCB won't mind having to play a depleted team. But when Dave Cameron proposed sending a B time to India, BCCI rightly refused thus starting a bitter war against their board....that is the window of opportunity for these dissenting players to get their demands met.

Allow this to go unpunished and every team will repeat the same stunt...problem with board, no problem, wait till India tour and then start their conflicts. That is why BCCI should send a message to BCB and BD players (esp Shakib and future IPL prospects)....stop these tantrums till completion of India series of suffer our infinite wrath.

After 7 decades we don't have a proper home season like Eng/Aus...whatever little we have we can't allow every gully ka Bunty to walk over it. This is a matter of principle more than money.

What are those 11 demands ?

What do they want ?

Permission for group nagin dance between the overs ? :hmmmm2:

Most of their demands is regarding their pending dues and increasing the overall pay structure.

1. The current committee of Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) must resign immediately. The players’ transfer of Premier League must be done following the old system so that players can choose a team according to their liking.

2. If it is not possible in this year, from next year onwards, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) must be arranged based on the previous model. The wages of local players must be increased.

3. The match fee for first class matches should be Tk1 lac. Coaches and physios should be provided year-long practice facilities in every division.

4. The domestic matches must use balls that are used in international matches. The meager Tk1,500 as daily allowance must be increased. Plane fares should be provided to go from one venue to another, hotel facilities should be upgraded along with gym and swimming pool facilities.

5. The number of contracted players and their salaries must be increased.

6. Salaries of local staff-members, the salary of coaches, ground staff, umpires and others must be increased.

7. The number of one-day tournaments in domestic arena must be increased. The players wish to play another T20 tournament before the BPL.

8. The local calendar must be fixed.

9. The dues of DPL must be paid on time.

10. The restriction of not playing in two or more franchise leagues must be withdrawn.

11. The players also urged female cricketers to come up with their problems as they are eager to move together with female cricketers to improve the cricketing atmosphere of the country.

Have you noticed whenever a team which is embroiled in a dispute with its board has to tour India, then these issues prop up to put up more pressure on their respective board. WI did the same during their past tours to India.

"Revolts usually tend to happen these days before an India tour. It's becoming a sort of a trend. And understandably, considering all stakeholders know what's at play when we're talking about boycotting an India tour," say sources tracking developments.

Bangladesh are full of mediocre cricketers, asking for pay rise is a joke.

Just lost a test match against Afghanistan.

They saw writing on the wall, best series to skip is the India, they know they are going to get hammered. In their mind it is better to avoid this humiliation.

They should be asked to do community service for their performance lol

So mediocre cricketers are not allowed to earn their living. All their demands look justified to me.They want infrastructure to improve and have long term success.

India should invite only SENA teams....

This kind of thinking from Australia and England has stopped cricket from growing more popular.India was an atrocious travelling team but it still got invited by other teams.

Yes Bangladesh has not done justice to their test status but that cricket is very popular sport in that country and Bangladesh Board is one of few boards which is self sufficient and does not beg ICC for money like PCB does. You need to encourage those teams. These demands are right for their domestic infrastructure. They will find talent too.
