Really like the way he articulates his thoughts . Now can he be useful in sa , eng and Australia . My bet is he has learnt a bit or two from Lyon and Moen Ali . He needs to use his body a bit more outside India to get more traction on the ball.  Hope he does well outside India

Awesome achievement. An Indian ATG without any doubt. Hope he shatters the record for fastest 400 and 500 also.

400 will be bit difficult. Murali took 400 in 72 matches. After getting to 300, he took next 100 in just 14 matches.  Ashwin has  17 matches to take 100 wickets and break that record.

Not possible...considering we will be playing away now for next couple of years.

Just as a FYI, Denis Lillee has never played in India and only got 6 wickets in Asia. But I guess bcoz he is an Australian, for him performing in overseas does not matter as much as it does for our players.

Ponting avgs 23 in India and he is an ATG. Sehwag avgs 41 in Aust and he is a FTB

Lillee was first genuine fast bowler in world. Probably that's why he gets lot of credit. As for Ponting he is rightly rated, Dravid averaged poorly in SA and SL, and struggled in all tours to Aus except one, but still hailed as best batsman technically for all conditons.

100 in 17 is doable but unless Ashwin has earth-shattering performance overseas, it won't happen. 14 of the next 16 tests (if we do play a 2 test series vs WI next year) is scheduled to be overseas : RSA(3), England (3), WI(2 ?) and Aus (4) are the next test series on the docket.

I highly doubt he will break the 500 record, even if he breaks the 400 record, because IMO, he will be too old and on the decline as he approaches 500 wickets.

And he breaks the record on the exact same day that Dennis lelliee last set it 36 years ago.....27 Nov 1981

Talk about timing. Talk about destiny.

Murali picked his wickets very quickly. Fastest to 400 is in 72 matches while 2nd fastest is 80 matches. Next 100 was picked by Murali in 15 tests, reaching 500 in 87 tests. 33 tests to 200 is highly unlikely for him. He can become 2nd fastest to 400 and 500 easily.

What? Lilee was first genuine fast bowler? Where did you hear that?

Ashwin been fantastic.

still think he can be just as successful overseas if Indian batting can perform they way they put up monstrous scores at home

too often when playing overseas, the batting is always playing catching up with the opposition

give Ashwin a 150 plus lead going into day 4/5, with attacking field, he will be deadly
