vvvslaxman Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 He hasn't reached a stage where teams start having plans against him. When that happens he will perform even worse. GoldenSun, adi B and velu 1 2
chapetmarunga Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 give him one more series if he doesnt improve pick someone else.
jf1gp_1 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Typical turn on this forum. First project him as savior of Indian cricket then label him worst. now that he is in the team give him some rope.
flamy Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I must say I'm disappointed. I thought he'd do well. His fielding has been a revelation.
Vk1 Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I see Sehwag like nonchalance in shreyas Iyer. He is our next superstar.

Vk1 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 ughhh.. his dismissal today was so ugly.. worst dismissal of an indian batsman that i have ever seen. Real McCoy 1

We just can't afford to let him rot away. Despite his ills he has to become a regular atleast for a while. This no 4 conundrum has gone on for way too long and nobody is magically going to appear and solve anything. Let's just hope he works it out somehow ala Ganguly/Yuvi bowl_out and Vk1 2

Get back Iyer. Or Karthik or Rayudu? All the investment put in for the last year and a half will come to nought. Gill should get a chance only if someone gets injured or Iyer's failures continue for an unbearably long time. Iyer has had a good NZ series(albiet in a lost cause). Just keep backing him and who knows he may turn into someone dependable. For Gill to be in the side he has to grab onto the first opportunity he gets and outperform his peers. This is what Kohli did and it earned him a place ahead of Rohit in 2011. Raina edged into the playing 11 ahead of Pathan by sheer performance. No jumping the queue just because you are deemed to be a great talent. I know Gill has been great in domestics but so was Iyer for a long time. This wanton merry go round policy with our middle order must stop. Banton, sandsaims, Cricspin and 1 other 1 3
Sean Bradley Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Come the international Cricket and these so called IPL Lions go missing. Rahul looks so Meek and Timid the moment he steps out to play in blues, so does Iyer. These players never instill confidence that they can win a match on their own. They can piggy back with odd performances under the shadows of Rohit, Kohli, Dhawan, but doesn't give you a feeling of a fearless player with "Jigra", who will win matches on their own with their individual brilliance.
Majestic Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 We have backed many mediocre players and also backed many talented players who ended up as failures. Shreyas Iyer hit a brilliant century in an ODI game Vs NZ and he also smashed 59 off 28 balls in one of T20 winning his team a match. It was a successful series for him. I will persist with him, he has flaws against short bowl and that will decide his fate but even Rishabh Pant batted like tailenders many times in LO cricket and that's why he is not even in the squad. The real test begins now as his weakness will be exploited more now that everyone is aware of that.

I was really disappointed to see that kind of dismissal but agree with you, we should persist with Iyer. On Gill, his power game is yet to develop and can only get a chance as an opener. Iyer has done well in the limited chances he has got. His dismissal was ugly today, but he needs to get a good run at No.4 for 12-15 months before deciding on what next for him and the position.. Gill is great talent, but this urge to constantly bring new players to replace existing one is unnecessary and to an extent addictive.. I'm pretty sure the same people were pleading for Iyer to be included in the XI when the Rayudus and Karthiks were failing. Edited November 27, 2020 by bowl_out Majestic and Forward Defence 2
aditya19 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 crap shot to get out..very overrated player
Adamant Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Sorry but that 59 (28) vs nz was against their reserve bowlers in t20s blundell, southee etc etc. If he fails in this series he should be dropped from playing eleven
Soumo Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Have anyone seen steve Smith's technique?? He looks worse than iyer end of the technique is nothing in limited over game but temparment that's what matters, give the guy some time he will surely improve if he doesn't then change him. There was a time when people were jumping around to get kohli out of the team he was inconsistent as anyone but look at him now. A champion isn't produced overnight it's long process to maximize someone's ability yeah I would've liked kl Rahul to succeed but team didn't show any kind of confidence in him after that sri lanka series for the number four role if Indian cricket was played by the way of icf's keyboard worriers then we would have stopped to pakistan level by now for sure. nevada 1
