Why can't Dhoni play as a specialist batsman ?

Batting as a specialist bat adds extra pressure on wk bats as then your role is of a pure batsman.

You are judged as a specialist batsman and your replacement options get multiplied. 

Karthik (and now Pant) being relatively unestablished should get that extra cushion. MSD being a senior member should leave the WK duties to these guys as his spot in the XI is always guaranteed and as much as his PR keeps singing about his superhuman keeping abilities, they are as regulation as they come so it makes no difference in LOIs.

May be this will allow him to focus more on his batting and he can come out of the bad form.

If you take Dhoni away from wicket keeping, you will have a true passenger who is good at nothing. Right now, he is still a better keeper than Pant.

Yes he is the best keeper when compared to Karthik. Pant hasn't kept in Odis yet so we don't know how he will keep. It's way different than keeping in tests. Pant should be fine. Old man needs to have some shame and step away.

The point is, isn't this unfair to Karthik who as a batsman did better than Dhoni still got dropped ?

Why should the burden of being specialist batsman be taken by Karthik or Pant who are unestablished and inexperienced and not by Dhoni.

Yes, he is the brain behind K(lueless)ohli's captaincy. Kohli is expert at chasing in non knockout matches and that's it, he has no clue on building team morale or making smart on field decisions.

I totally get your logic but the thing is same things have been corroborated by multiple people, including one who works for Rhiti so I had to believe that.
They didn't have a legit replacement back then and I think the power equations have changed from that time only.
Now that Pant is almost ready,maybe we"ll see the same process repeated.

I remember, there was a time we used to play with 10 players...Atleast that was what people used to say. 

 

Yes...ganguly was the culprit.

 

He used to come and go like a jiffy. Infact, to answer one of the fellow commentators question as " What will be ideal position for ganguly, now that he is not in form". For this question, Sidhu saab answered that no:11. Someone else commented that he should never come at any position.

 

If Dhoni starts playing only as a batsmen, then we will be playing with only 9 players. Because, he is intimidating the bowlers and lowering their morale. And its known fact that he is completely useless with the bat.
