Earlier in the 2018 auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Indian fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat got a lucrative contract of INR 11.50 crores from Rajasthan Royals. The same was for the reason that he had a stupendous season for the scrapped IPL franchise Rising Pune Supergiant. However, he couldn’t live up to expectations as he could only pick up 11 wickets for the Royals from 15 matches.

Moreover, he conceded runs at an economy rate of 9.65 which showed that he was not able to curb the batsmen from unleashing their wide range of strokes. Subsequently, he was released by the franchise and he was listed in this year’s auction at a base price of INR 1.50 crores. Nevertheless, yet another time, Rajasthan picked the Porbandar-born speedster for a whopping 8.40 crores.

 

I have been in good rhythm

After bagging the deal, the 27-year-old mentioned that he doesn’t want to pressure himself with the ‘numbers’ and rather he wants to focus only on his show in the field. Moreover, he went on to say that he is pretty satisfied with how he has performed in the IPL over the last few years.

“What I had in mind was not the number, of course, but I was sure that with the form I have been in domestic cricket, teams would be keen on me. The fact that I am left-arm and an Indian fast bowler stood in my favour too. To be honest, I have not done that badly in the IPL over the past few years, except for the last 2-3 matches last season. I was right up there,” Unadkat told ESPNcricinfo.

 

Unadkat impressed for Saurashtra during the erstwhile Vijay Hazare Trophy with 16 wickets from eight matches at an economy rate of 4.27. Recently, he also picked up a seven-wicket haul against Chattisgarh in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Unadkat also sounded confident his current form.

“This domestic season, I have been in good rhythm: did well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy [domestic one-dayers] where I got 16 wickets, did well in the Deodhar Trophy [domestic one-dayers featuring the best performing players]. In the Ranji Trophy [domestic first-class], I have taken over the captaincy at Saurashtra, and we had an outright win in our last match,” he added.

I don’t know who that is but anyways, I joined this forum around the same time in Dec 2010, right before India won the WC, so decided to put my differences aside and be here till the end of the 2019 WC for sentimental reasons. India winning the 2019 WC with Rohit being M.o.s and Dhoni’s retirement speech is going to be my humble swan song :bow:
