How is Dhawan not part of team, but Rohit is?

Since we have queue system, surely Dhawan should be ahead of Rohit in that queue.

Amazes me too. Dhawan is one of the most underrated cricketers in the world. Yes, he struggles overseas test cricket but Rahul/Rohit don't let the world on fire either. Also, in home tests, Dhawan is still the best opener who can take the game away from opposition.

If a player is underperforming for some time or is not thought to be an all-condition player ...  just look for others.

We have to move past players carrying obvious weaknesses for a substantial amount of time.  At least youngers can correct themselves early in their career.

Dhawan was dropped 4 times mid tour on four consecutive tours in Sena countries. I don't think there is any coming back.

Sharma is married to bunty sajdehs sister, so he will be coming back till Kohli is the captain. Dhawan himself has been extremely favoured by kohli. Neither Sharma nor dhawan deserve to be in the test team.

Rohit is in because he is not playing as an opener. He plays at 6, and in theory he has the capability to do well on the bouncy pitches of Australia. Team management threw Vihari in as a sacrificial lamb instead of taking a gamble with Rohit as opener because they have no confidence in him in that role.  Dhawan has had his share of failures abroad and unlike Rohit, he cannot hide in the middle order either, so he has been dropped.
