Internet has played a powerful role in this, before social media most were unaware of graphic details regarding invasions from Muslim kings in the past. Hence Modi is the symbol of an empowered India giving a strong reply to a millennia of invasions.

Noticed in a area which was has a sizeable number of minority people, a stall is set up wherein one can fill a form opposing the CAA and NRC. Just like a online petition I suspect it could be paper forms used to gather objections towards the two acts.

 

I guess both acts are in effect and the objection isn't going to lead to withdrawal. But the dynasty politicians will use the minority in whatever way they possibly can, even though it is a waste of time filling the forms.

CAA doesn't mention Muslims anywhere. It only mentions minorities of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh.

Every state In the west, you consider secular  is infested with hypocritical policies like favoring Christian refugees over others. India is a plural state not a western secular state, secularism was introduced in our constitution during emergency in 1975. We believe in mutual respect and equality of all religions. Unlike, the western countries where Christianity is supreme but other religions are tolerated merely.

 

Every western state has a nationalist agenda, look it up.

What does any other country in the West, or anywhere else for that matter, have to do with India?

 

You have Hindu Nationalist politicians spreading Hindutva ideologies with Hindu Nationalist policies. This isn't even up for discussion, they openly admit it themselves.

 

The Bolded part is laughable at best, dishonest at worst. "Equality For all" - Seriously? With people like Yogi Adityanath, sure, sure.

Because the Indian media looks west for approval on internal matters, they write stuff on WaPo, NYT, NZHerald etc, that is lapped up by people like you and make opinions. Hence, I am pointing out that India has not done anything new that west has not already done.

That does not mean India is out to be come a Hindu rashtra with all other religions becoming second class. India needs a national grand narrative linked to Indic civilizational roots with a modern outlook. Why is nationalism considered bad? It lead to wars in the 20th century, but the new kind of Nationalism is about being anti-global, protectionist and reviving it's ancient cultural roots. We praise China for doing the same with their civilization. This narrative of western secular concept with minority appeasement and majority shaming will not work. That has spoilt India's image elsewhere.

There is something in letter and something part of a narrative. Yes, Hinduism doesn't preach (in any text) that other religions are committing sin by not following their religion. We say all lead to the same truth.  You cite Yogi, argue with data and facts. Has he stopped any government schemes that are specifically for minorities? Has any mosque in UP stopped playing Azaan 5 times a day or a church stopped their hourly/periodic bells? If equality means minority appeasement, then yes, he has stopped the charade followed by other CMs of UP.  He doesn't host iftars or wear skull caps, but goes to perform Ganga aartis. It is a personal choice and he doesn't have to keep appearences for media to get praised that he is secular.
