We were atleast 50 short..once again ..once the openers are gone for nothing, it’s next to impossible to get a good target and we don’t have casual 6 hitters in the lower middle order.

One step at a time. We did okay today without a big contribution from the big 3. If one among Pant and Iyer had stayed to complete a century, we would have put up 300-310. I would have preferred to send Dube ahead of Jaddu to give that late innings flourish and get us a few more runs.

What is talent then?plz enlighten us

Rohit for example was struggling to make a mark in internationals,it was (im forced to say this)Dhoni backed him and luckily the then TM believed his talent and played him with a true intention to groom a prodigy who will serve Indian cricket for long and it paid off,it generally pays off,you have to back them,no one is Abhimanyu here who will give signs straight from their mum's womb, they are mortals ,they need support ,backing and in simple words how can you judge a kid without giving him a opportunity?

Pehle unhe khilao toh sahi,Shaw ,Gill have barely played and you have rushed to say them talentless

You are again mixing things, Rohit was backed yes, but he too was in and out of the team for six years.Till 2013 when they had an opening for ODI opener and he was offered that role and rest is history. Was Rohit played as an opener till Gambhir, Sachin and Sehwag were playing answer is no.

So stop whining about things which don't need to be fixed.Gill, Shaw or Saini are not players which are needed for this team.

A guy like Dubey who is inferior to players like Gill and Shaw is being played for one reason , the need for batsmen who can bowl and hit.

There is no need for any Shaw and Gills for this team. They have to wait for their turns like all others before them who were trying to replace exisiting players.Teams just don't replace perfectly performing players who are top of world ranking just to try new players and thankfully they are not insane like some fans.

Yes ,we absolutely need them ,dont think our top 3 will remain same in 4 years time, there is no oneday world championship going,we have no excuse to play the same top 3 in every random bilaterals,we have to test our next crop and give them enough game time and support for 2023,what is the purpose of playing bilaterals then ?

If you continue with same top3 ,you risk more than one thing

This nonsense somebody was saying, Hetmyer was backed thats why he is performing, who do we have who is leftie who can score 70 ball 100 in system.

Losing teams experiment more than winning teams.Australia in 2000s or WI  in 1980s rarely changed their teams other than injury here and there. You don't change performing players just to build depth. There are other avenues to do that.

The only mistake I feel they have done is not give Iyer an extended run before 2019 world cup.He would have been perfect no4 for this team.I hope he gets an extended run , this guy can bat.

So for something which 4 years down the line you change your existing batting lineup that is nonsense , how will that add balance to current team.

Every team goes thru lul after established players leave that is nature of the beast. You don't change Kohli and Rohit for that.It has been always upto the incoming players to fill the roles needed by the team.Your Gill and Shaws are not the need to for this team now or in next two to three years.

Iyer is good but remember that he too has weaknesses. Minimal feet movement, clean bowled playing away from the body against high pace. I like his positive, clear minded approach but want him to bat against quality bowling to improve his game.
