T20 rankings are a joke. For all the exploits of Babar Azam in odis, I find him a mediocre t20 batsman and he’s number 1.

He is mediocre odi players as well......All he hasn't to show is an inner ng against nz....where even fat ass Harish sohail also scored.

he is a soft run maker like amla ,hardly ever impactful but always among the runs,in a batting deprived nation like Pakistan,no wonder he has become a big deal,he is probably their first proper batsman in over a decade.

I agree ICC should make a separate ranking for Indian cricket followers, yes Babar is very mediocre batsman for Indians, for rest of the world he is rankled 1 in T20 and one of the best overall.

Even kulusekra became no:1 bowler in odi at one point of time....there are history of players who became no 1 at some point it doesn't mean they were great. Babar LL eventually fulfill Pakistani legacy to join the queue of atgs  akmal, sehjads or caught in match fixing like amir, butt or Asif.

YOu have to factor strike rate. Stat padders should not be rewarded in this format.

We need just a couple of more batsman like KL in the team, i.e. , players who can accelerate from the go and then this team would be completely transformed, unbeatable perhaps.

We have the luxury of Virat and Rohit as players who can carry the innings if needed, just need some dashers around them. Pandya should be one, others could be DK, Shaw, SKY.  Pandey and Iyer are good players but not necessary for this team combination. I believe we have the players to challenge the best(Eng, WI, Aus) in this format if smart selections are made.

Icc rankings reflect the performance over past year 

pakistan takes t20 seriously as it’s facesaving for them . Now when they come to World Cup they wil likely not reach semis .. 

england aussie india and West Indies are the 4 fav semi finalists with New Zealand an outside chance . 
pak will fight out with Bangla tigers for 5 th spot 

 

teams like india use t20 for experimenting . Case in point being the 4 and 5 th t20 . Thakur and saini and Samson amd dubey were tried . 
 

pak fans are in for a reality check when they actually enter the World Cup - they lack big hitters , lack batters of rahul Rohit quality or match winning Bowlers like bumrah . What they have done well is play each t20 with full strength squad to ensure they win .
