His SR is bad because he  can only hit half volleys for 4, and the occasional short ball if given width.  He is worse than some tailenders as a power hitter.

It's the problem with his grip on the bat.

He's been playing int'l cricket for 12 years now.  He can't be expected to learn new tricks at this point, apart from the occasional tweak.  Everybody in cricket knows what can and can't be expected from Jadeja with the bat.  He would be a great #9, but is sub-par at #7.   And a team like India with the player pool we have, shouldn't be settling for him at that slot.

Which test he played at 5 ?

in any case , context was one day matches not test .

5? He was promoted to 4, ahead of Kohli and Rahane in a Test vs SA, thats how highly Kohli thinks of his batting.

Jadeja has improved a lot batting wise. His bowling is quite economical even on flat pitches on most days and fielding is phenomenal. Expecting him to win a game on his own is asking a bit too much. He will be handy with the bat but needs a regular batsman at the other end to do the job.

Yes,i for once also thought he should be sent up

But rest assured ,he will suck there as well , I don't think he can rotate strike and does not possess the quality to cope with  moving ball ,yes he did exceptionally well in the wc sf where he had to face fairly new ball in tough conditions, but then he himself knew the game was already lost and thus played under the NZ radar

Don't think Jadeja has ever won a game with the bat for Ind, lost numerous with his limited skills. However he won the heart of Dhoni though and that was more important than any stat.

Still recall Dhoni promoting him in the 2009 T20WC v Eng ahead of himself & Yewchup. Deer in the headlights performance, Ind crashed out  but Dhoni had found his soulmate.

For all his sword celebrations, Jaddu is a very timid LOI cricketer. The only department where he truly excels is fielding and he can save 10-15 runs singlehandedly.

He is a useful bowler in the middle overs in the ODI when batsmen are not looking to go after the bowlers. If they go after his bowling and get two three hits in, he quickly starts darting. In batting , he can hold the fort but that's about it. Today he was not proactively looking to gain the strike, he was almost relieved that Saini and then chahal were facing multiple balls and shielding him

I am saying this from day 1. We indians made so much fun of afridi. But after playing 160 matches, he had way more match winning innings than our Jadeja.

Jadeja is the worst investment we have ever made.

Played 2 50 overs worldcup , 5 t20 worldcups and didnt even win us a single match.

Why would you expect a bowler who bats a bit to win games with his hitting. It just means that when there’s no chance of victory, he just scores some runs. Your interpretation of the stats is wrong

except that afridi was a batsmen who bowled a bit, while jadeja is a bowler who can bat a bit. Why don’t you show some stats how many matches afridi won with his bowling?

And then we have some here who goes to great length to defend this phoy arse so called allrounder ... can't bat to save his life, let alone team india. Took him years to become a decent bowler

took him even more yrs to become a decent batter. but both apply in tests. in ODIs, he is neither a decent bowler nor a decent batsman. his bowling avg in ODIs is comparable to likes of srt, ganguly, sehwag and yuvi.

The problem is he is just not a match winner either with the bat or the ball ,now you can name a couple but that's expected if you've played around 160 matches .

He's a pretender ,a Fraud ,I've always stated this , always goes the conservative route ,either leg side tripes ,darting or hanging around till the end while batting only to lose the match.

This is going on for years now .

In tests, it's a different story ,he has been solid

Retard actually had plenty of match winning bowling performances but mostly bullied the weak sides ,but he did improve his bowling since 2008 ,bowling average must have been 29-30 in the latter half of his career which jadeja never had
