sarcastic Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 Started off with 10 runs in 8 balls and looking to play shots all the time and scoring at a good strike rate. Is he going to be another Sehwag in test cricket? sandeep, bhakum20, Rasgulla and 1 other 1 2 1
Rasgulla Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 As long as he doesn't become lil Sachin it's all good. SrinjayDutta, Nikola and kaptaan 3
Ankit_sharma03 Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 I dont think sehwag was this good at prithvi age , also if im not wrong he started as an off spinner for his ranji side. I also think shaw is as destrutive against medium pacer like CDGH n all and spinners like sehwag was Cricwala 1
cowboysfan Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 He is good prospect with huge technical problems, its upto him to rectify them and he better do it quickly because we have other options. nevada and Adi_91 2
Cricket_Fan Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 (edited) He has a better backfoot game than Sehwag. I would say he should try getting a season in county as that should help him iron out his flaws vs swing. As he is a already famous prodigy, county teams will be eager to have him. He was doing well when I opened this thread. He is playing like how Veeru used to play during his hay days. I rather have such opener who can be entertaining and make test match viewing popular among masses.
Prabhdeep Singh Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Contrary to popular opinion. Shaw's approach is better than Pujara's on these types of wickets. Modern day players don't develop there techniques like they did in the past. It is better they attack and play their natural game on these types of wickets. Indian batting line up should not be grinding to score, they should attack the debutant and CDG. This grinding approach has never worked previously on tours of SA and Eng. The team is definitely missing Rohit Sharma. Indian batting need to change their philosophy on these types of wickets. They allowing 120k medium pacer just to bowl line and length, hit him out of the attack. SrinjayDutta, sarcastic and Cricwala 1 2

Sure Southee bowled a nice one, but Shaw opened himself up by trying to play a ball on the stumps to wide mid-on/midwicket - if he was looking to play straight, he may have either edged it behind, or maybe even a thickish edge that falls forward or in no man's land. He didn't give himself a fighting chance, by trying to play across. He's opening for India. In a test match. In NZ. Comparison to Veeru is all fine - but Veeru's defense, and especially shot selection in the 1st hour against the new ball, was always crystal clear. That's what made him as good as he was. SK_IH Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Yes I think so too. But he will be summarily dropped once Rohit is back fit.
Gollum Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Work in progress, luckily for him he is just 20 and this TM won't survive for more than a couple of years. Cricwala and Cricspin 2
Deleted_User_1 Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Shaw is shyt in international cricket. Will not succeed with that back lift. And to top it off, runs like shyt! sandeep 1

Yes, Sehwag's defense was solid. I don't see such solidity with Shaw. He takes a big backswing for pretty much every ball, looking to bash it to the boundary. You always feel like the bowler has a chance when he is batting. SrinjayDutta 1
SrinjayDutta Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Sehwag's defence was quite a underrated aspect. He had a simple technique of getting behind the ball. And he had very clear ideas on which ball to go after. His scores in sena maybe sporadic. But he still has hundreds in three of those places in tests. A once in generations player. mani sha, sandeep, nevada and 1 other 1 1 2
mani sha Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Both are similar in clarity of mind . sehwag was more gifted I feel and front foot player . Prithvi is more back foot sarfaraaz khan is more sehwag like front foot player finally I feel such players are all impact players and we should not be fussy about technique . Have faith and they will deliver
Soorma_Bhopali Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 He does not have the same solid defence as Sehwag and plays too many shots in the beginning. He needs to tighten up defence and shot-selection.
