Your happiest moment as a cricket fan

What is the one single moment in cricketing history where you felt so elated and the reason why? The choice is entirely personal so there is no right/wrong here, just plain personal opinion. For me, the happiest moment was when Yuvraj his 6 sixes vs England. Why? Because 2 weeks earlier he was hit for 5 sixes by the same team, Indian cricket was in turmoil with them crashing out of the 50 over World Cup prematurely and because Yuvraj is from Punjab which made it all the more special for me personally. Also, it's probably one of the most amazing feats in cricketing history so an amazing moment even from a neutrals perspective.

For me, Yuvi's innings in the SF against Australia in this WC was way better.  It came at a time when India really needed it, after quick wickets had fallen.  And he just walked in, smashed them all over the park and flipped the game on its head.

This was still the Aus team that was dominant and expected to win every tournament it showed up for.  Beating them was in a way, a bigger achievement than the final.

Apart from this, my favorite moment in cricket was Day 1 Boxing day test match in 2003-04 series, when Veeru scored 195.

Did you mean the QF of 2011 CWC?

2007 ICC WT20 has to be there, even slightly more than 2011 as it was so close and launched India’s ICC tournament winning phase that lasted until 2013.

Mohali 2011 hands down.

Still remember screaming at the top of my lungs like an idiot when Umar Khatmal got out to Bhajji. Looked like he was gonna run away with the game.

When Dhoni called it quits in test cricket :p:

More than happiness I feel relieved when we win something big mainly because of the range of emotions I go through the course of a match, esp test cricket . But if I have to quote a match it will be Chennai test win in 2008, 2 weeks after 26/11....united the country and the way the players spoke after the win (Sachin was so emotional), dedicating the victory to the fallen, brought so many smiles to a grieving nation. I didn't follow it live (no TV cos of competitive exams prep:((), relied on cricinfo's running commentary, after getting dominated for 1st 3.5 days the way we created history, beauty of test cricket!!! Very happy when we won, boy the country deserved that happiness even if only for a day.

Second half of 2008 was great for Indian sports, so many historic  feats in the Aug-Dec period.

Even that famous Wimbledon final, didn't watch any of them live, till 2010 :wall:

Yuvi"s 6 sixes. The fact that we won the tournament makes it even better. I still watch that over on YouTube once in a while.

2007 WT20 final- That was the closest to a 83 WC win type moment people of my generation can ever see.

2011WC- India were the favorites, playing at home and had one of its best line ups eve. Anything else would have been unacceptable. So while obviously I was overjoyed. It didn’t have the same impact as 2007 for me because I accepted a format that I thought was going to be a joke. However watching Sachin getting a tribute and finally getting a major trophy made me emotional.

Sachin’s 200- Finally the master had a chance to breach the boundary of something that was deemed impossible.

Yuvi’s 6 6’s

Rohit’s 142 vs Pak. That was one assault on the hapless Pakistanis that day and shut them for the foreseeable future.
