G_B_ Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 His bowling is not what it used to be. But his batting has come leaps and bounds. Can he be trusted at 5 for T20s?
zen Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Jadeja can work in an 11 like below where he can share his overs with others .... Batting order can be flexible: Agarwal KL SKY Samson SDP Tewatia Jadeja Bowlers Jadeja + Tweatia + SDP can combine as 5th-6th bowlers
Majestic Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 (edited) In ODIs certainly but not higher than 7. Rohit Dhawan Kohli Iyer Rahul(wkt) Pandya Jadeja Saini Shami Chahal Bumrah In T20s, his bowling is mediocre. But batting has clearly improved. He batted like a nightwatchman when he started in 2013. SK_IH Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 I have always believed if Jadeja can bat at 5 successfully he would be indispensable to the side. But Jadeja at 7 is a failed idea and likely to keep on failing. Ankit_sharma03 1
Serpico Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 no. he is just not good enough to be selected for his batting alone. Especially with our accumulator, take it deep merchants in the top order, Pandya is a must. Hopefully Sanju/Pant can also claim a spot nevada 1
I6MTW Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Jadeja's best bowling year in LOIs was in 2013-14. He's way past that. But his batting has certainly improved a lot, as evident in last year's WC, and in this year's IPL. Maybe as a batting all rounder he can be tried one last time. express bowling 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 In ODI he can bowl 10 overs every day then why just batsman ? Wkts is an issue for most finger spinner In t20 he is crap SK_IH and OpeningBatsman 1 1

Gollum Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Nope, take his runs as bonus. When you put pressure on him to perform as batsman, raise expectations etc his form will suffer big time. Laaloo and nevada 2

ShoonyaSifar Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Does he even deserve a spot in the ODI team? Even as an all rounder? Does not take enough wickets. He was averaging 50+ with the ball in 2019. How can you play him as a 5th bowling option? But under the defensive leadership of Kohli, he will be a shoo-in for the T20 WC. Expect Kohli to go with Jadeja and Sundar as two spinners and Bhuvi as one of the seamers as they all can bowl 'economically'
express bowling Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 We need someone in LOIs who can bat at No.7 and be the 5th bowler. Jadeja is the only viable option we have now. Sundar is not a high SR batter yet ... Axar can not play genuine pace ... Tewatia can qualify but needs to perform in another tournament or for India A ... Krunal is weak against genuine pace too. raki05 and OpeningBatsman 2
express bowling Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Hardik is breaking down whenever he has to bowl 10 overs every match. And his lower-middle order big hitting is invaluable to us in LOIs. But we won't get that big hitting if he is out with injury while trying to bowl his full quota every match Jadeja at No.7 ... and as the 5th bowler ... will allow Hardik to concentrate on his batting and big hitting at No 6. And their positions can be swapped based on match situations.
Vk1 Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Jadeja under pressure and against quality teams is a liability. SK_IH 1

He did finish yesterday's game but he never gives any confidence in those pressure situations. 2 years ago he was well set & still couldn't finish the match against Afganistan
Stan AF Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 No. When will the Indian team and its fans ever learn?

OpeningBatsman Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 More than the position he should be batting as ler the number of overs left in the innings. If its the last 3-4 overs I would send even Shami ahead of him. He can be decent if there are overs left or in case of a collapse where he doesn't have to go at more than 80 sr.
