Mayank looked in great touch in ipl. but my only issue playing him is, he will be 30 in a couple of months.. with all our top 3 in 30s, we should have a backup player in 20s. We don't want another repeat of last wc where one injury ruined entire team composition

 

with that in mind shaw/gill would be better bet for opener

We have to play him I think.  I am not sure about Dhawan in 2023..  He'll be 37 I think.  So It'll be better to utilize the form of Mayank & see how he does in Aus.  If he fires he should be given a long run.  Mayank will be 32 in 2023 which is good enough I think.  Rohit & Shikhar Should be the worries.

Everyone is putting Jadeja as second spinner.. his bowling averages in last 3 series he played: 72(v NZ), 35(v Aus), 62(v Wi). Do we even need a second spinner in australia?

Why is age 30 a problem. Still by 2023 wc he wud be 32 thats fine. U dnt plan for 2027 wc from now

He is an economical ODI bowler but not a wicket taker.Also, we do not have any other all-rounder selected in the ODI squad.

30 is no big deal. Even Mike Hussey started at that age only. Mayank is quite fit and looks good for another 2-3 seasons. Moreover, every player doesn't need to have a career over a decade or longer. Let more players get opportunities every few years.

all these are terribly risky with *boi not bowling,if one of the bowlers get tonked we are screwed as we dont have any more bowlers in the team

Rahul as wicket keeper batsman is another short term fix going on in Indian cricket. India has pretty good wicket keeping options coming up & they deserve a chance. I would love to see Samson getting games in this series.

None of our bowlers can bat and none of our batsmen can bowl.

 

If we lose 6 wickets we will see saini or shami coming in to bat.

I don't like the idea of Rahul as WK in ODIs. The next WC in three years away, so why not try proper WK bastmen and let Rahul concentrate on his Batting? Pretty sure his batting will be affected if he does Keeping for few years in ODIs.

 

T20s are fine as it's just 20 overs and also can try it in next T20 WC which is only a few months away.
