ShoonyaSifar Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 In the last 3 years, the top score. home or away, by an Indian WK batsman not named Pant is 24 (by Saha)! Out of the top 15 scores, 14 of them are by Pant. But as per the TM, he is not good enough. beetle, putrevus, Tridibans_16 and 1 other 1 3

As far as i can remember we had DK parthiv in south africa and england one test each .. New guy 1

Also his twin 50s on Eden greentop (2016, remember Bhuvi's 5fer?) against Boult and co was special, got MOM for his batting. Sure he isn't as accomplished with the bat as Dhoni/Pant but calling him trash is unfair. The one hundred outside Asia came against Windies where Ashwin played the lead role batting at no.6. Saha was in support role. What are the averages of Saha and Pant outside Asia?

Pant: 13 tests, 22 innings Saha: 6 tests, 6 innings (with Jadeja batting ahead of him, that's how much the team trusts his batting credentials) DK: 3 tests, 5 innings Parthiv: 2 tests, 4 innings So basically Pant was the 4th choice WK in Dec 2017 before the SA series, grabbed his chance when it came (after doing well for India A in England), did well but was pushed out by the senior who in the eyes of the TM is not good enough to bat ahead of Jadeja even in home tests!

Im a huge Pant fan and would want Pant in every Indian XI going forward, but i have a dispute over one of your statement about Saha being less accomplished to Dhoni ,in tests he's a couple of notches above him Dhoni had zero presence outside Asia, his great double hundred against Aus has eclipsed his overall mediocrity in tests though, but no way Saha is less than Dhoni in tests Saha should have got his due well before Pant but due to Dhoni dragging his career in tests despite loosing interest was quite unfortunate Laaloo, nevada, express bowling and 4 others 7
Tridibans_16 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Considering his past record in Australia, Pant should be an automatic selection as a batsman let alone a wicket keeper batsman. He should be in the XI. If he fails in Adelaide (personally I would play him in the first two tests), Saha can be brought in. Has better record than many of our so called batsmen (Rohit/ KL etc.). Also, I don't know on what basis people are criticizing his wk skills. Did he drop a sitter/ missed a stumping last time in OZ or even in NZ early this year? Because I don't remember any.... Further, what is the use of playing an oldie (trust me I like Saha and I am not against his selection per se) rather than a youngster who can learn with every outing and has the potential to be a real match winner going forwards? Why the same standards are not used by those supporting Pant's exclusion when the TM selects Umesh and not the young guns? Suhaan, Real McCoy, SK_IH and 3 others 6

Apart from Kohli and Gill/Shaw. most others will play slowly against pace bowling. Pink ball test matches provide periods of unplayable bowling and periods of easy batting. Which is why it is important to cash in on the easy periods with some quick runs. Pant should be played ... and sent during those easy periods to get as many runs as possible. While the batters with good defenses and leaves should be used to tide over the difficult periods. A batting line-up needs variety. Can't have 6 Pujaras or 6 Shaws. This is why this consolidator filled batting line-up needs a Pant. tbh as much as I have been disappointed by Shaw’s batting, his technique, his tactical approach at the crease, I am still not sure if replacing him with Gill is a no brainer. I really liked Gill’s batting in the warm up game and I guess it’s a good problem to have.

Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 this , kohli needs to get the same...pant is a game changer like dhoni infact if he plays to his potential he ll do way better then dhoni in test diga 1
putrevus Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 This TM have made some head scratching decisions.Selection of Shaw and non selection of Pant are on top of the list.Pant did not do anything wrong to lose his place test team. This nonsense that Saha is so wonderful behind the wickets, we can ignore his tailend batting is crap. Serpico 1
