Play both Ashwin and Jadeja (when fit) for the rest of the series.

Ashwin usually starts of well with the ball overseas and tapers off 

 

On the other hand, Jadeja even though he doesn’t produce  those threatening spells like Ashwin does , he is more consistent and reliable. 
 

His batting has improved tremendously in the last 12-18 months 

 

So even if one of them has a leaner bowling/batting form,  just persist with them as they both can be match winners on their day if they get it right.

 

About time we looked at multi dimensional cricketers like England.

 

Don’t think they will be any more or less

effective with the bat than the Vihari, Rahane,Shaw, Saha, Pant, Aggarwal etc in these conditions. They will in fact give us an excellent extra bowling option.

Also because Bumrah has been overworked so early, 21 overs at full intensity in 5.5 hours is unacceptable. Archer suffered when Root used him like that in the Ashes. I doubt Siraj/Saini/Umesh will give control to the skipper like even Shami, forget Ishant. That may tempt him to overbowl Bumrah, someone like Jaddu can fill in with economical overs then, and not like he is a part-timer, with pressure at the other end he can also chip away their batting unit in these conditions, easily 15-20 overs per day at 2.5 rpo and a wicket, maybe more. Also will do better with the bat than some of our specialists. 

 

Please Jaddu get fit ASAP

Need more seasoned players in the team. Doesn’t matter if they are T20 format or not. 
 

Need attacking mentality players and not timid, bogged down types. Test cricket is not Pujara Rahane types who effing gets bogged down and no substantial outcome.

Jadeja is unlikely to be fit I think..  Hamstring injuries take time.  He won't be available till Gabba Test I guess.  Selectors should send a replacement..  A left handed batsman would be ideal.  No Shreyas Iyer.

At this rate we have to play Pant/Pandya/Jadeja and ashwin from #5-8. Left and right combos through and throughout. This should be the middle and lower middle order for the future.

 

You can add 3 fast bowlers in the mix and still have 7-8 batsmen in the mix(11). This is the only way forward.

Two spinners are useless in Aus conditions. Need at least 3 seamers. Bring in Siraj for Shami. Jadeja can replace Ashwin if we need a bit more batting down the order. Ashwin has regressed as a batsman, he used to bat quite well in overseas conditions, of late he has become a typical tailender.

What nonsense is this. If Australian batting collapsed would they replace Lyon with Agar ?

We are running out of players now, Bumrah is overworked, need more LHBs, have to look at present form (Ashwin's bowling with the pink ball). 2 rookie quicks will be a huge risk and Umesh leaks runs like crazy, Ashwin-Jaddu (if fit) looks like a forced move now tbh, esp for MCG and SCG. If we had our first choice pace attack in Bumrah/Ishant/Shami sure 4 bowlers would have done the job but not with Bumrah + 2 out of Umesh/Siraj/Saini.

Now that Jaddu has shown his batting skills, let us stop this chop and change overseas and play them together going forward..

 Consider Jaddu as a batting all-rounder who can chip in with couple of wickets and some quiet overs and Ashwin as a bowling all-rounder who can score 15-20 minimum

In any overseas test unless the pitch is pancake Jadeja will always come to play in 3rd and 4th innings as his strength is turning and also not turning the ball from same spot. Also having a left hander in lower middle order always helps as after 6/7 overs opposition bowlers gets frustrated when they cant take wickets and have to change angle after every few balls for LHB .. actually the biggest sufferer has been India when they have bowled to left handers.. Sam Curran in England series.. if you watch highlights you can clearly see Shami being frustrated with singles which Curran was taking and he had to change angles.. and when he tried to ball the sucker ball he was being smashed for 4.. Jadeja did same this test
