Franco Vazquez Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 If India is serious about him, Keep him away from IPL and send him to county during the same season for a year or 2 and let him hone his skills like Williamson, Labuschagne or even Pujara did. After two years, he can come back to IPL and start earning crores but if India want him to become even 1% of Tendulkar, they need to send him to CC
LordPrabhzy Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Do you think if it was possible, then it would have been done by many other indian batsmen ( bar Pujara?) The priority of Indian batsmen is right now to play in the IPL. They want the glitz and glamour and BCCI is happy for them to stay as it brings in the cash. Now imagine 5/6 of Team India's batters are out playing foreign first class leagues, the brand value of the league will go down. I have said it once and I will say it again, BCCI does not care about SENA Test tours now. We only win at home because of SENA teams inability to play spin. We arent a top team by any standards. Kohli is a selfish MC who has destroyed the confidence of Rahul and will do it to Shaw and Gill after one failure. BCCI and this TM is a joke! #boycottIndiancricket nevada 1

Casual fans who make up the majority of viewership love the IPL and don't follow test cricket with much interest. At best, they might check the score periodically. express bowling 1

If anything the latter regressed.

Lone Wolf Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Pujara sucked badly in County.. But a strokemaker like Shaw may actually do well & work on his flaws. But don't think he'd like to dump IPl for it & BCCI honestly doesn't care.
Sandeep99 Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Shaw must go back to his coach and work on technical deficiencies first. Then he can go to county to experience different conditions. express bowling 1

Rahane, vijay also went to county and so did our bowlers. Going to county means u shud be free that time which is mostly possible for one format players. Even kohli wanted to go but there was no time

Gollum Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Why would a CC side take him? Not an established test cricketer, can't field, fitness issues, doping ban, lack of discipline, misconduct charges in Ranji. sorak 1
cric_fan Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 What has happened to this guy? Seems to have aged quickly. I’ve seen accusations of him being a druggy etc. I hope he pulls through this bad patch.

Labuschane was averaging in 30s I think when he got CC contract.. Shaw has 50+ FC avg, a test hundred and a popular name around cricket circuit as a young talent
R!TTER Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 What Sméagol's probably saying is that taking him to a County side will not solve his issues, he needs a major course correction! Have you ever seen a lazy, fat ass, undisciplined, prima donna making it big at the highest level? In the world of sports the top of the top, who've succeeded regularly, have always had one thing in common - their hard work. This guy just wants to live off his U15 reputation as being an SRT incarnate

BCCI and this TM is a joke! #boycottIndiancricket Change that to most Indian fans do not care about tests. Which is why there has been not much of an outcry even after 36 all out. One factor is media on the payroll of Kohli-Shastri but the other big factor in fans do not give much importance to Tests, even lesser to away tests. Many fans now tune into just IPL and the national team performances, barring the big tournaments like WC and CT, do not matter to them
BacktoCricaddict Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/aakash-chopra-why-it-s-not-time-to-give-up-on-prithvi-shaw-yet-1244870 A very measured take by Aakash Chopra. Right now, Shaw needs a great deal of mentoring - with batting and his psyche. Given that, he will come out stronger. He has been through a lot in 2 years. Some external (ankle injury), some self-inflicted. But if two-bit fans like me - who have no clue what it takes to succeed at the highest level - keep dumping on him and berating him, he might fade away into the "wasted talent" list. Having said that, he needs to respond to mentoring too. Often youngsters have a chip on their shoulder and will not listen to "outsiders" after having been coached by a parent all their lives. For the good of Indian cricket, let's hope it works out for this mega-talented young man. Why it's not time to give up on Prithvi Shaw yet We might not understand his methods, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't give him chances to succeed or fail before writing him off

Also, even though Shaw is struggling now, there is upside if he works on his game. No reason why Shaw could not turn it around. BacktoCricaddict 1
