i think what this shows and the cwg/asian tallies show is that the indian infrastructure is finally good enough to churn out athletes who are very very good, just not the next level goat candidates it requires to win gold.

Disqualification rules:

1. At any point of time if both feet are in the air simultaneously........imagine they have to walk at that pace and one foot should always be on the ground, for the entire 20km.

2. The leading knee must not bend until it passes under the centre of the body

 

Failure to comply with these rules leads to automatic disqualification. Seen heartbreaking moments in this sport where leading walker falters in the last stretch of the race. Imagine leading for 19.5 km and then disqualified because one of the jury members thinks you bent your knee a bit earlier than you should have. No video referral as well. 

 

Form, technique, composure very important apart from other athletic attributes. 

 

Indeed there are stupid events in Olympics, but this is not one of them.

What exactly is stupid about it? It's a test of endurance, strength and require plenty of skills. Racewalking has been among the very first events in modern Olympics

No, this is walking, not running. There must be certain rules to ensure walkers don't run, otherwise that defeats the purpose.

Some years ago, I had gone with a bunch of friends to Pawna lake for camping/treking. One of my very few foolhardy ventures at being one with nature. One of the people was my friend's husband (Vikramjeet) who has to be *the laziest* person I have seen in my life.

He would dunzo for a saridon even though he stayed on the first floor of a building which has a pharmacy on the ground floor.

 

So it was nice, if you ignore all the insects. Bonfire and all. In the morning everyone gathered around the bonfire area from their individual tents. Vikramjeet was slouching even then, propped against his bag. Suddenly there was a lot of commotion and his wife was screaming hysterically. She was telling him " Vikram there is a snake near your foot".

 

And Vikramjeet replied: which foot?

 

That is OR WR PB NR  in laziness. Don't think you have anything to top that.

It's more like slow running. And they seem like running to toilet with squeezed pelvis, in a narrow lane.

Australians weren't that great in hockey before. Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Argentina used to be top teams.
