Dont write of ger vs aus either. They are a very physical team. Aus did not look comfertable vs Netherlands today.

 

Todays strategy to stay behind after a 2 goal lead was poor and this is how we have lost matches from winning positions in the past. The big difference is, the last goal would be scored by GB if it was against indian team of past. 

I am hoping to see less nerves against Belgium after this win .

Always sad to see talented shotmakers lose by turning into error machines. The Chinese didn't win, Tai lost. She brought her A game in the SF and then dipped in the final, sometimes happens when you have to face someone like Marin or Sindhu before the final, you exhaust your mental energy there itself. 

 

Sindhu had everything stacked against her, 4 consecutive days of games, tougher draw, poor form coming into this event....

Yeah I was scared that GBR would equalize with their possession and umps handing out free PCs like a buffet. Sreejesh held his calm under pressure. He has to do it again against Belgium if we have to have a chance

The West German victory was the first title by a European nation since 1920, but was marred by the behavior of Pakistani players, fans, and officials.

In the last ten minutes of the gold medal match, the umpires had to stop play twice so that Pakistani fans who had run onto the pitch could be removed, while their players and officials repeatedly remonstrated with the umpires. 

At the final whistle, Pakistani fans and officials invaded the pitch and assaulted West German police and stadium security before storming the tournament officials' table and pouring a bucket of water over International Hockey Federation president Rene Frank, while the players destroyed their locker room.

At the medal ceremony, the Pakistani players refused to wear their silver medals or face the West German flag as it was raised, and turned their backs as the West German national anthem was played.

The eleven Pakistani players were banned for life from their national team, but after a high-level apology, the ban was reduced to two years, and eight of them played at the 1976 Olympics.

Tai Tzu reminds me of a badminton version of Shapovalov instead of a Federer. Which is why Federer is probably the GOAT, his playing style is extremely difficult to be consistent and achieve results at tournaments with that playing style, a high level isn't sustainable with a natural , attacking playing style with flair etc. Guys like Shapovalov, Dimitrov, Fognini, Verdasco are all attacking shotmakers who choke and are erratic with UE.

 

I'm assuming similarly with Tai Tzu, a great talent, but not consistent and able to sustain a high level.
