Virat Kohli should call Sachin Tendulkar, ask what to do: Gavaskar

“He should give a quick call to SRT (Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) and ask what should I do?" said Gavaskar during commentary on Wednesday.

Now Sachin is supposed to teach him how to play square cut & square drives lol...

If I was Sachin I would publicly humiliate this loser & expose this fraud.

Kohli calls Sachin

Sachin tells him " Do what I did after the 1999-00 Aus tour. Resign from captaincy. That is the only thing that can save your career."

Non existent back foot game, shocking for so called best player in the world. The ball Loli edges behind routinely were dispatched for back foot punches by Sachin

England had trash attacks before and Sachin made merry of it.

Which is also why he did well in Australia too,  they had trash attack as well?

Nah look at sachins technique, its more like Root. Sachin used to play back foot and also late like Root is doing this series. He naturally used to open bat face and go square/behind instead of playing in the V or going for cover drives in england. That helps on swinging pitches. This is where kohli is struggling as he is still playing straight or to covers with hard hands.

You just need to see how is Root playing vs Kohli to see why one is succeeding and what works in england. Root is playing so so late and most runs are coming square or behind the wicket.

Sachin himself was bunny of Anderson. What advice can he even give

Watch Sachin's innings at Old Trafford at 17 years of age, way better than any of Loli's hundred in England. A match saving innings something Loli can dream of

Mate, obviously Sachin was greater than Kohli. I just merely pointed out the reason behind Sachin's high average. He would not have averaged 65 had he faced the kind of attacks Kohli has faced since the latter's debut. Kohli may not have backfoot game, but yet he produced one of the greatest series by an overseas batsman(2018). Shows you don't need to have all shots in the book to be a great player. Technique is overrated.

Ffs Root had not scored a 100 at home for 3 years before this series.

Sachin with his technique would 100% have averaged same or more. Sachin is someone who has faced the likes of Donald and mcgrath, ambrose and two Wasims ands played and dominated in 90s when pitches and bowling quality were way way superior.

Imagine claiming with a straight face that this English attack is better than the attacks of 90s, the windies, paksitan, south africa and australia. Dude overton, robinson, curran etc wont be fit to lace the boots of those bowlers. Sachin woukd have just cut all shots, seen off anderson and then made merry

I have read many bad takes on this forum but this is hilarious

Yes and see how he got out in those series vs how he is playing now . Even then root was not getting out for low scores like virat, he was throwing his wicket away after easily scoring 50s on those pitches

He had problem converting his 50's even his so called slump was way better than Kohli of 2019

OK let's compare the fast bowling attacks then. 90s/2000s vs 2010s

England - way way better in the last decade. Pitches have been more spicy too.

NZ - Way way better in the last decade.

Australia - Par. In fact one can argue the combined pace attack of Cummins, Hazzlewood, Starc/Cummins is better than McGrath, Gillespie, Lee.

South Africa - Par. But Kohli has consistently faced very tough attacks in SA in the form of Steyn/Morkel/Philander/Rabada/Ngidi and going to face Nortje later this year. Never had breathing space unlike Sachin, who made merry of the likes of Tsosobe in 2010.

So come again with better arguments.

england attack is better now - jimmy and broad mainly - but the attack during the 00s wasn't a poor one either. atleast not for english conditions.

You realize sachin doninated that SA attack with Steyn in south africa at 38 years old? Prime sachin could have easily played those bowlers you named, none of who are better than steyn. You are constantly talking about 2000s and 2010 but ignoring pitches of 90s which is where sachin showed his true worth. Check the average scores around the world during those period and what kind of bowling everyone had

Kohli has a very limited technique which is what causes problems. He also is not as adaptable as sachin because of the limitations

To give you few examples, when sachins reflexes slowed, he had problems picking the ball going both ways (like anderson can do). So his solution for the 2010 tour was to play each ball inside the line. So if it comes in, it hits the bat, if it goes away,  it will miss the bat but will not edge.  He was missing those balls entire series without edging and scored 100s for fun

Similarly in 2004 Australia series, where he realized the bounce is not good for drives, he cut down the cover drive completely

When warne toured india, he practiced with a leg spinner bowling around the leg

The secret of sachins longetivity and playing across decades was his being able to adapt. Which is where most other talents fade away once their weakness is discovered or their reflexes slow down.

Kohli is not showing those signs of being able to change or adapt. His captaincy is also not allowing him to turn his focus on his batting. He conquered england in 2018 through sheer will. But will can only go so far. If he doesnt adapt and conquer his weakness,  he will just fade away

Lol Sachin faced these attacks in their prime..  Anderson in Prime Broad on his prime..  Steyn at his terrifying Peak &,  Morkel as well.

Sachin was 35+ while facing these attacks.  Chokli isn't fit to tie his shoe laces even.  His superior bats & technology & analysts & fitness can never replace raw natural talent & flair of SRT.

Chokli is nothing more but Gareebon ka VVS atm.
