Kohli's on-field strategies

This deserves a separate thread.  As you can see the graph vast majority of the runs were scored through the on side.  Rizwan scored 69 out of 79 runs through on side.   Two things

First line of the bowlers. It was as if the instructions were to attack the stumps (which they miserably did) packing the on side.  Only towards the end Bhuvi started bowling harmless wide balls.  Shami went one step ahead and bowled exclusively on the pads. Kohli never stepped in to arrest this bleeding.  It was almost like "i am going to give up my captaincy anyway. why bother" attitude. Incredibly pathetic captaincy was on display. Reporters instead of asking about his selection they should pin him down with questions about onfield strategies.

Watching the game, I felt too many singles were being allowed to be taken. Obv with a score of only 151, they should have never lat that happen.

The same captain was once hailed as the most proactive captain India needs. Clearly, either this is fatigue or general carelessness. With this attitude, we are in deep trouble to come anywhere near the title.

Terrible Captaincy from Kohli but that's nothing new. He has been a terrible tactician since he took over the captaincy.  Kohli is good in Tests because you have 5 days ,  His mistakes do not glare you because there are things that can be re changed during every other session .  However, in ODIs and T20 when you do not get much of a chance to change tactics  - Kohli's poor captaincy shows.

1) His team selection   -  India left out Shreyas Iyer/Thakur/Yuzi/ Siraj  out.  Kohli turns to Yuzi for RCB but he doesn't feel  Yuzi is good enough for the international team?   He is blind backing Pandya, for what?  Does Kohli feel that a half fit Pandya is better than any other batsman or bowler in India?

2)  Not giving Bumrah the first over ?  What are you trying to do Kohli , defend 150 on a beautiful batting pitch through Bhuvi?  You aren't giving your premier bowler the first over and only one over in first 10 overs?

3)  No pressure being created -  Rotating a new bowler every over - What are you trying to do?

4) Sending Jadeja over Pandya -  If Jadeja can bat better than Pandya then why are you playing Pandya ?

He was always reactive in LO, in tests depending on the conditions he was often hailed better than Dhoni. But in all honesty we've had better players in tests than most nations that's why we've won.

Felt that too, specially vs spin. Surely might have conceded extra boundary, but could have built up dots and increase RR

Bevada gave Kohli to cram plan A.

1. Over 1-20 to be bowled by this and this order

2. Field positions for each bowler before PP and after PP

Most likely Bevada had hangover or Kohli was too busy or may be Kohli has limitations that he cant cram Plan B.

Hence, Plan A all the way.

Baseball use Analytics for every placement on the field. BCCI should spend some money on that and take the decisions away from the  captain.
